Issues related to China-US trade frictions have been hot topics in the past two years.Huawei company and events related to huawei are important parts of the China-US trade dispute. In this context, mainstream media in the United Kingdom and the United States carried out a lot of reports on Huawei and events related to huawei.According to the agenda setting theory, the media agenda will have a strong impact on the public agenda, and the media agenda is the foundation for achieving the effect of agenda setting. Therefore,it is of practical significance to examine the characteristics of the media agenda of Huawei and related events in Britain and the United States.Based on the theory of network agenda setting as the research theory, this paper uses content analysis, social network analysis, discourse analysis and other methods to analyze the collected samples of The Guardian and The New York Times, and carry out a "strong and refined" coding method.Subdivision of "processing" and "weak fine processing".It further explores the characteristics, similarities and differences in the topic attribute associations of mainstream media in Britain and the United States, and tries to examine in detail the strategies used to construct these associations. The research results show that in reporting on Huawei and related incidents, the British and American media have carried out strong and precise processing of the topic attribute associations such as "Huawei","spy",and "restriction." This shows that the British and American media are consistent in the correlation of topic attributes in the reporting process.Although the United Kingdom is not a country with direct interest in the trade war,the British media presents similar reporting characteristics as the American media. This research also examines the characteristics of the associated means of the microstructure of the discourse analysis dimension of the relevant reports and the discourse description method of the discourse practice dimension. The results found that the New York Times and The Guardian adopted causal associations, transitional associations and other local semantic associations in the association of topic attributes, and used direct and indirect speech more cleverly to make the associations between topic attributes more relevant.Smooth.In the discourse descriptions of the two newspapers, the relationship between Huawei and violations of laws and threats to national security was highlighted, creating a relatively negative image. The unequal power relationship hidden behind such discourse is not conducive to the shaping of Huawei's good image in the world's technological competition, and it is also not conducive to the sound development of Sino-US trade relations.
