| In July 2020,Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street was selected as the first batch of National Demonstration Pedestrian Streets,highlights the value of Jiefangbei`s consumption symbols.As early as 2016,Jiefangbei was selected as one of the top ten cultural symbols in Chongqing after being selected by academia and the public.But it was first born as a political symbol.It can be said that in the development of the times,Jiefangbei has evolved from a medium for political education to a cultural space rich in multiple symbol systems.Yuri Lotman,the founder of the Russian Tatu School,regards culture as a symbol system,and proposes the semiotic circle theory of the interactive influence of multiple symbol systems to describe the concept of cultural space.The symbol circle follows the logical clues from symbol to text,then to culture,and finally forms the symbol circle.But the logical starting point is the interactive relationship between text and culture,that is,how text constructs culture and how culture affects text.In Lotman`s theory,the text is at the core.He proposed that text is a complete meaning space,which includes not only natural language,but also gestures,rituals,images and other content.From this perspective,Jiefangbei can also be regarded as text.In the process of text construction as culture,the media played an important role.The so-called mediation and remediation,to borrow the words of Grusin,the logic of remediation lies in that mediation is always the premise of historical existence,all mediation is remediation,because mediation of real events is always edition of another mediation process.Examine the Jiefangbei from the perspective of cultural semiotics.First of all,the construction of the spiritual fortress entity is the realization of the mediation of abstract spirit,and in the reports of the mass media,through remediation,it is endowed with richer connotations,resulting in a new mechanism of meaning,that is,a new text,and then Constructed a cultural space containing multiple symbol systems.And what comes with mediation is media memory,which affects the cultural identity of the group and shapes the symbolic interaction in the cultural space.Therefore,this article studies the symbolic changes and identity of Jiefangbei from the perspective of cultural semiotics,and focuses on the construction role of the media in it.It mainly studies three questions: 1.What is the symbolic construction and change of Jiefangbei? 2.How is the media? Shaped the symbol system of Jiefangbei? 3.What kind of identity was constructed by media memory in the process of symbol change?Focusing on these three issues,this article combines relevant historical data,selects paper media that is basically in sync with the construction and transformation of Jiefangbei,and conducts research with content analysis.Specifically,for the study of the spiritual fortress and the monument to the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan,this article selects‘Central Daily News’,‘Ta Kung Pao’ and ‘Xinhua Daily’,and for the Jiefangbei born in modern society,selects ‘Chongqing Daily’.Through a more in-depth analysis of related reports,this article believes that although both the spiritual fortress and the monument of victory in the War of Resistance against Japan are political symbols with rich meaning and primarily perform the function of political education,they have failed to complete the training of the people to agree with the rule of the national party purpose.The main reason is that the Kuomintang`s measures to deal with people`s livelihood issues are not popular among the people,leading to a situation where the official and the people`s identification with political symbols is broken.The most prominent role of the spiritual fortress in wartime is to awaken the consciousness of the people`s national community and become a symbol of the spirit of‘striving for victory’.However,after the war,the Nationalist Government was still in the capital and did not pay attention to properly handling people`s livelihood issues,so it could not be recognized by the people,so its symbols could not be recognized.The unfinished mission,the Kuomintang government expects to be accomplished through the memorial monument,that is,the memorial monument naturally assumes the political task of educating the people to agree with the Kuomintang`s rule.Of course,its political meaning does not stop there.It is more obvious to commemorate the achievements of the Sichuan-Chongqing people in the War of Resistance against Japan,to commemorate the victory of China in the War of Resistance against Japan,and to commemorate the image of victory against fascism in the world.And it can be seen in the speeches of government officials at that time.However,since the National Government had already returned the capital before it was built,and the official media did not pay much attention to it,it seemed to have forgotten its existence and other reasons.In the end,it also failed to complete its political mission.Chongqing ushered in the liberation,and by changing its name,Jiefangbei realized changes in the connotation of political symbols.However,it is worth noting that it inherited the political meaning of this monument as a memorial monument for the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan,but it is too obscure and is rarely known to the public.In modern society,the area where Jiefangbei is located has become the city`s central business district thanks to its superior geographical location and good business traditions.Jiefangbei also superimposed consumption symbols and cultural symbols in this process to construct the cultural space of Jiefangbei.According to Yuri Lotman`s semiotic circle theory,the semiotic circle has the fundamental characteristic of inhomogeneity.There is a symbol system in the‘center’ position and a symbol system in an inactive ‘edge’ position in the cultural space.Right to speak.The semiotic system at the central position describes the semiotic system at the marginal position in the form of ‘meta-language’,which makes the marginal symbols ignored and even despised.Due to the characteristics of asymmetry,the symbol system of the center and edge positions can be dynamically interacted.At present,Jiefangbei consumer symbols have increasingly become the central symbol system in the cultural space of Jiefangbei,and its political symbol system is not active enough,and its historical and cultural values are insufficiently demonstrated.However,the historical and cultural value of Jiefangbei is very important for Chongqing,the country,and even the world.Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to publicizing its political and cultural value.Therefore,this article suggests that the government or non-governmental organizations should release the political symbolic influence of Jiefangbei through propaganda and ritual activities.On the one hand,by remembering the hard struggle of the ancestors,it can enhance national pride,national self-confidence and national identity,on the other hand,it helps Jiefangbei to highlight cultural characteristics and increase tourist attraction in today`s differentiated cultural tourism. |
