Research On The "Scientific Hybridx" Section Of Oriental Journal (1911-1921)

Oriental Magazine in the late Qing Period in March 1904 by The Commercial Press,until December 1948,the final issue,lasted 46 years,is China's most affected encyclop degree panoramic old periodicals.As the second magazine founded by The Commercial Press after Embroidery Novels,it has experienced various important historical periods,such as the Revolution of 1911,the May Fourth Movement,the New Culture Movement,the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation,which records the historical trajectory of China's modern development and becomes an important material for studying the history of the Republic of China.Oriental Magazine,as the oldest comprehensive magazine in modern China,is rich in content,including the social media,Chinese and foreign memorabilia,etc.,a detailed collection of major political,economic and cultural events in China and abroad in the month.Among them,the publication of science is not only a scientific enlightenment to the public,but also conducive to the promotion of national scientific development.Magazine in the late Qing Dynasty science,industry and other difficult development period,for the social science enlightenment and development into a new vitality,we can see the importance of its scientific communication.At the beginning of the publication of the journal,the scientific articles were distributed in various columns of the magazine,and there was no regular column.Until 1911 that Du Yaquan,the chief editor,set up a column called " Scientific Hybrid ",which became a separate column for science for the first time in the magazine and was used as a position to spread.It took 11 years for the program to be canceled,with several interruptions and cancellations,until it was canceled in 1922.As the main front of scientific knowledge dissemination,this column also became the period when the most scientific articles were published in the journal.The magazine itself and its chief editor have an important influence on the establishment and reform of the column.In addition,through the related research on the topic setting of this column,we can see the scientific thoughts of the colleagues of Oriental Magazine at that time."
