Research On Guilin Publishing Industry During The Total Anti-Japanese War

During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggressions,Guilin was known as the "Cultural City" for its abundant literati,numerous literary and art groups,unprecedented prosperity in publishing,and endless variety of speeches,plays and lectures.The main symbol of this "cultural city" is its developed publishing industry.From 1938 to 1944,in a short period of six years,Guilin published a large number of books and periodicals,with diversified types and a wide range of subjects.Guilin was a famous publishing center in China,and together with Chongqing,it occupied half of the publishing industry in China at that time.The history of local publishing,especially the publishing center which affects the whole history,is an important part of the history of publishing,so the study of the history of publishing cannot ignore the history of local publishing.But should be "out" guilin publishing industry,but not under today's academic circles attach great importance to,although there is quite a basic data of finishing work,but related research scattered in publishing history,rough is unknown,special analysis of publishing academic papers is a handful,total lack of guilin in the publishing industry.On the basis of previous studies,combining with the historical materials of newspapers and periodicals at that time and the later recollections,this paper analyzes the causes,changes,management,characteristics and influences of Guilin's publishing industry,and strives to accurately grasp the overall appearance of the development of Guilin's publishing industry during the Anti-Japanese War.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper mainly from the following five aspects.The first chapter analyzes the causes of the development of Guilin's publishing industry during the Anti-Japanese War.From the political environment,geographical environment,trade environment and audience environment of Guilin,the development conditions of Guilin publishing industry are explained in detail.The outbreak of the all-out war of resistance against Japanese aggression,the loose cultural policy of the Xin-Gui school and the united front efforts of the Communist Party of China created the political environment needed by the industry.Superior geographical location,provincial capital city status and traffic location advantage constitute geographical environment.The abundance and convenience of paper,printing houses,authors,editors,and capital shape the industry environment.The numerous intellectuals,students and civil servants are also the natural audiences of Guilin's publishing industry,with a large demand for books and periodicals and a broad market.The second chapter makes a dynamic investigation on the development and changes of Guilin's publishing industry in the period of the Anti-Japanese War.Before and after the Anti-Japanese War,Guilin's publishing industry took on a different look.Before the war,Guilin was almost a cultural desert,during the war,it became a "cultural city",and after the war,it became a bleak and withered situation.With the evolution of anti-Japanese war situation,Guilin publishing industry also has different changes,which shows the complexity of Guilin publishing industry development.This dynamic change reveals the two characteristics of its development,that is,wartime and exogenous.The third chapter analyzes the production and operation of Guilin publishing industry.The investigation of production and management status includes two aspects: management and management effect.The management of Guilin publishing industry is quite comprehensive and effective,and the management of organization,personnel,quality of books and periodicals,distribution channels and marketing means is carried out to promote its development and growth.Since it is difficult to collect historical data on the overall revenue of Guilin publishing industry,we can only take the National Salvation Daily as an example to analyze the sales volume,the total amount of pricing and the total revenue,and show the specific performance of Guilin publishing industry through case analysis.Based publicizing the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and awakening the public,Guilin's publications were mainly short stories and social science works.After the incident,in order to criticize the Kuomintang's retrogression,surrender and secession and to reveal the social evils,essays,historical dramas,translated works and literary works were published in large numbers,occupying the majority of the publishing market in Guilin.The fifth chapter expounds the historical contribution of Guilin's publishing industry during the Anti-Japanese War.Guilin publishing industry not only promoted the formation of Guilin "cultural city",but also promoted the development of the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement,condensing the people's patriotic enthusiasm.In addition,it also provides a platform for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries,so that the works of Chinese and foreign intellectuals can be understood and exchanged through books and newspapers in
