As a cultural center in the southwest area during the period of the Anti-Japanese War, the culture city of Guilin had a very prosperous press career. In that time, the communists or progressives built up many bookstores and publishing agencies in Guilin, but just three publishing agencies could survive and develop in the difficult position and get together to stick to the new China found. These three publishing agencies were Sheng Huo bookstore,Du Shu and Sheng Huo press and Xin Zhi bookstore. This paper puts the three publishing agencies into the Guilin historical environment that is the war of resistance against Japan, then studies and discusses their publishing work which help them overcome the hardship with full of energyThrough statisticsing the publishing books’list of the three publishing agencies in Guilin during the Anti-Japanese war, we found that the three publishing agencies served for the resistance against Japan and published a lot of progress books and progress journals. Through researching the business strategies of the three publishing agencies, we found that the three publishing agencies used the more flexible management strategies in financing, production, distribution and promotion work. Through studying the management system of the three publishing agencies, we found that the three publishing agencies adopt a "talent socialist" management’s thinking to stimulate their staffs working enthusiasm and creativity in inner. Through analyzing the influence of the three publishing agencies on the culture city of Guilin, we found that the three publishing agencies made thinking, organizing and political preparation for the forming of the culture city of Guilin. In the whole society system during the Anti-Japanese War, the three publishing agencies played an important role to disseminate knowledge and culture. They influenced a generation of young people and promoted the nation’s anti-fascism war. In the end, this paper summarizes the three publishing Agencies’ successful experience about publishing activities, hoping to provide a reference for the development of modern publishing industry.
