In the process of “double first-class” higher education construction in China,university libraries,as a “second classroom” for students,play a vital role in cultivating talents in universities.The rich research results of the usage of foreign university libraries on student learning outcomes show that the usage of university libraries has a positive impact on the learning outcomes of undergraduate students,while domestic related research is relatively lacking,and it has not received enough attention in the field of practice.Based on the background of Chinese higher education,this research examines the impact of university libraries on student learning outcomes.This research investigates a domestic library of S University with relatively standardized services in an empirical way.The survey includes three aspects: The first is to investigate the students' utilization of S University's library;The second is to explore the positive impact of library utilization on student learning outcomes;The third is to explore the existing problems and deficiencies.The survey found that first,S University students' utilization of the library's overall and various services is relatively good,and satisfaction is high,but students' reading enthusiasm is not high,and the interaction with librarians needs to be improved;second,the frequency of library utilization,the length of self-study time and the amount of borrowing have a significant positive impact on students' learning outcomes;third,the use of different services in the library has positive effects on students' learning outcomes to varying degrees;fourth,in the perception of students and teachers,the library plays an important role in improving the ability of information literacy;fifth,the current library lacks a complete and long-term student learning outcomes assessment mechanism.Through the analysis of the survey results and field observations,it is believed that the above conclusions may be caused by: On the one hand,high-quality resources and diversified courses help students improve their information literacy ability;The development model of integrating space construction and reading promotion stimulates students' reading ability;High-impact activities subtly promote the improvement of students' teamwork ability;High-quality librarians lead the improvement of students' critical thinking ability.On the other hand,students have insufficient initiative in the effective use of the library;Colleges and universities lack the overall design of the library learning outcomes evaluation system.In the new era of information technology development environment,university libraries should continue to maximize the advantages of collection resources and guide students to read efficiently;promote information literacy education and focus on cultivating students' information literacy capabilities;strengthen top-level design and pay attention to library space planning and design;promote entertaining activities,carry out diversified high-impact activities;improve the professional quality of librarians,and build a team of high-quality librarians;guide college students to actively improve their awareness and ability of library utilization;improve the influence of library utilization on students' learning outcomes assessment system.Ultimately,the use of university libraries will maximize the positive influence of students' learning outcomes.
