Set up in 1987,Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd.was based in Longgang District,Shenzhen,Guangdong Province.After years of hard work,Huawei has finally become the world's second largest mobile phone seller,leading the world in 5G technology.To some extent,the development of Huawei is an epitome of the rise of the Chinese nation and its stepping into the center of the world stage.The growing Huawei has thus received increasing attention from both the western and domestic media.In the context of the Sino-US trade war,Huawei is the first to bear the brunt.On December 1,2018,Huawei's financial officer Meng Wanzhou was arrested.On May 16,2019,ex-US President Donald Trump issued a Huawei ban.The Meng Wanzhou case has become a focus of the media from both China and other major foreign media across the globe.The purpose of this paper is to analyze reports from China Daily and the Wall Street Journal in the simmering Meng Wanzhou case from December,1st,2018 to July,31st.A content analysis(n=738 with 285 from the Wall Street Journal and 453 from China Daily.)was conducted to analyze the narrative frequencies,themes,perspectives and strategies of the two media outlets,in an attempt to make out the images of Huawei presented respectively by the two media and give further suggestions for the improvement of discourse power of mainstream Chinese media Research findings showed that the reports about Huawei in the Wall Street Journal mainly covered the topics concerning U.S.'s interests.As for China Daily,its reports are still mainly focused on the technological breakthroughs and achievements of Huawei with cited statistics.On topics about Huawei's marching into the global market,China Daily mostly took an cooperative attitude.
