Research On Agile Risk Management Of Data Warehouse Cloud Migration Project

Since the concept of data warehouses was proposed in the 1990s,they have always played an important role in the field of enterprises' intelligent decision-making.With the emergence of cloud computing and big data processing technologies,the traditional data warehouses have a new direction to break through their architectural bottlenecks and seek architecture upgrades.Therefore,more and more enterprises have begun to build their cloud-based data warehouses.However,the data warehouse systems in the traditional architecture need to go through complex cloudification process which is not a simple one of "lift and shift".To adapt to the cloud platform environment,in addition to migrating a hugely large amount of data,the underlying business data processing processes and ETL processes shall be transformed.Therefore,the cloudification of data warehouses also has the inherent high-risk characteristics of software projects.It can be seen that a suitable risk management plan needs to be developed for the cloudification of data warehouses to guarantee the success of such projects.Based on the theories about risk management of traditional software projects as well as the agile risk management,this research proposed an agility-based,lightweight,structured and process-based risk management solution with the specific implementation method in reference of domestic and foreign literatures.Finally,this solution was applied to a cloud-based data warehouse project.In this solution,questionnaires were used to collect and analyze the project risk factors,which were then summarized and classified to formulate the possible response plans and risk repository,based on which the project teams were then directed to perform various risk management activities including risk identification,risk assessment,risk response and risk monitoring in their subsequent iterative developments,to ensure that the cloud-based data warehouse project can carry out more smoothly.The project teams effectively controlled the project risk levels through the application and implementation of this lightweight,structured and process-based risk management solution.And the practicability and applicability of the solution were therefore verified,broadening the application scopes of the agile risk management theory.
