Virtual Reality(VR for short)technology mainly uses computer simulation to generate a three-dimensional virtual environment.By simulating the functions of human sense organs such as vision, hearing, and touch, people can produce an immersive experience. The virtual museum is one of the hotspots in the field of VR research. It breaks through the limitations of time and space, can better collect and preserve the exhibition collections, and interact with users, enrich the exhibition form of the exhibition collections, and make the exhibition collections in the museum "alive",has now attracted more and more scholars' attention. This research designs a virtual museum system framework by analyzing the system requirements of the virtual museum, and proposes a new optimization algorithm for the problem of outliers generated by the handheld 3D scanner during the scanning process, which improves the data authenticity and completeness.Three human-computer interaction functions are designed to enhance the user experience. Finally, the virtual museum system is evaluated and analyzed. The specific research content is given as follows:(1)The design of the virtual museum system framework. For the problems of lack of interaction and weak immersive experience in the existing museum system,a virtual museum system framework is designed, including supporting software layer, technical layer, content layer, and functional layer. The involved content, supporting software, technology, data content and functions of the four parts are also explained, laying a foundation for the subsequent development.(2)Optimization of scanning data with handheld 3D scanner. For the problem of a large number of outliers generated by handheld scanners in the process of scanning exhibition collections,a hybrid filtering algorithm is proposed. The algorithm first uses a statistical filtering algorithm to delete obvious outliers in the point cloud data, and then uses a radius filtering algorithm to delete small-scale outliers in the data, and at the same time, the edge points are filtered to make the edge of the point cloud data smooth. After the point cloud is preprocessed for outliers, the Iteration Closest Point(ICP)algorithm is used to accurately register the point cloud data, and complete usable 3D data information is obtained.(3)The design of human-computer interaction function. After completing the construction of the virtual environment based on the designed virtual museum system framework, with the help of the user-oriented HTC Vive interface device, three humancomputer interaction functions are designed for the exhibition collections in the museum:the first is the first-person roaming function and the instant movement function, which is designed to allow users to break through the limitations of space and can "walk" in the museum without actual movement;the second way of interaction is the gaze interaction function, which is designed to free the user's hands,so that the user can obtain exhibit information only by gazing;the third type is the exhibit display control function, which is designed to allow users to pick up the exhibits and observe more details of the exhibits.(4)Systematic evaluation and analysis. In order to test the performance of the developed virtual museum system, firstly, adaptive training is conducted for users, and then the selected users are tested for the experience of the virtual museum system, and the Mean Opinion Score(MOS)is performed after the test.score.The MOS score results show that the virtual museum system has better interaction and experience, and can solve the problems of existing museum system.
