A Study Of Sino-US Economic And Trade Consultation Report From The Perspective Of Attribute Agenda Setting

Economic and trade relations between China and the United States have always been called "propellers" and "ballast stones" of Sino-US relations,which not only affect the fundamental interests of the two peoples,but also are closely related to world prosperity and stability.Trade frictions occur from time to time in world economic exchanges,and the Sino-US trade frictions that began in March 2018 have seriously affected the economic development of the two countries.China insists on resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation,stabilizing bilateral economic and trade relations,and constantly seeking cooperation.China and the United States have held 13 rounds of economic and trade negotiations in the past two years,and finally reached an agreement on the text of the first stage economic and trade agreement between China and the United States on December 13,2019.Focusing on the major international economic and trade event of Sino-US economic and trade consultation,the Party newspaper,represented by People's Daily and Economic Daily,made a large number of reports at the first time,which played a role in guiding public opinion on Sino-US trade frictions.This paper selects the report of "Economic Daily" on Sino-US economic and trade consultation as the research object,takes the starting and ending time of 13 rounds of consultation as the scope,takes "Sino-US economic and trade consultation" as the key word to carry on the selects 71 reports as the research sample of this paper.Taking the theory of attribute agenda setting as the research perspective,using content analysis and case analysis,this paper explains the characteristics of attribute agenda setting in Sino-US economic and trade consultation.This paper consists of five parts.The introduction part mainly discusses the background and significance of the topic,and determines the research ideas,research methods and innovation points of this paper in combination with the relevant literature review;the first chapter combs the connotation and development course of attribute agenda setting,analyzes the mechanism of giving play to public opinion guidance;summarizes the characteristics of international trade news is professional,interest and policy,and puts forward that international trade news can guide public opinion by setting agenda attributes;Chapter two,on the basis of expounding the background of the trade friction between China and the United States in 2018,divides the 13 rounds of Sino-US economic and trade consultation into the consultation trial period,the friction escalation period,the consultation promotion period and the consensus-building period,and collates and analyzes the general situation of the reports of People's Daily and Economic Daily on Sino-US economic and trade consultation;Chapter 3 selects 71 reports of Economic Daily as the research sample,uses the content analysis method to construct the content analysis category,carries on the statistics and the analysis to the report agenda attribute according to the four consultation periods,summarizes the agenda attribute that the four periods emphasize respectively: mutual benefit and win-win,Chinese rhythm and American "good faith ",advance consultation and promote reform,active consultation and " do oneself well ";The fourth chapter summarizes the optimization strategy of international trade news reports: setting the agenda from the professional characteristics of international trade,fixed agenda attribute with the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and expressing attribute with professional discourse,so as to provide reference for doing a good job of international trade news.It is found that the Party newspaper represented by the Economic Daily embodies the characteristics of different attribute agenda setting in different periods of Sino-US economic and trade consultation.Optimizing the international trade news report should take the national position as the starting point,take the trade facts as the reporting core point,take the common people's interests as the reporting base;embody the government attitude from the policy perspective and the globalization perspective from the professional perspective;lead the public opinion by the party newspaper policy discourse and construct the pluralistic public opinion field through the new media.
