In recent years,with the continuous development of information technology and economic society,more and more enterprises begin to evolve from the traditional multi-level organizational structure to the flat and grid organizational structure in order to better cope with the fierce competition in the business market.At the same time,as an enterprise-level information enabling system,enterprise social media is widely adopted and used to provide technical support for team operation and assist enterprise employees in communication and cooperation.However,at present,there are few empirical studies to examine the impact of enterprise social media use on team performance.The long history of information system usage research shows that the impact of the deployment of information technology on the organization depends on the willingness and use of employees.In the research field of information system use,the theory of affordance discusses the impact of information system use on organizational management from the perspective of the interaction between human and technology.Based on the above analysis,this paper studied the impact of enterprise social media use on team performance from the perspective of enterprise social media affordance.This paper mainly explored the following three questions: First,does the enterprise social media affordance affect the team interaction process and team performance? Second,does the team interaction process have a mediating effect between the enterprise social media affordance and team performance? Third,does task dependence have a moderating effect between the enterprise social media affordance and team interaction?Firstly,according to the theory of affordance,a relationship model was constructed for visibility affordance,association affordance,editability affordance,persistence affordance of enterprise social media on team collaboration,knowledge sharing,team trust,and team performance.And on that basis,the paper further analyzed the mediating effect of team collaboration,knowledge sharing,team trust.Moreover,the paper also discussed the mediating effect of task dependencies on team collaboration,knowledge sharing,team trust.Secondly,the structural equation modeling method was used to empirically test the research model in this paper.The empirical analysis results show that: the visibility affordance,editability affordance,persistence affordance of enterprise social media have a significant positive impacts on team collaboration,knowledge sharing and team trust,however the association affordance has no significant impact;team collaboration,knowledge sharing and team trust have significantly positive affect on team performance,and play partial mediating effect between enterprise social media visibility affordance,association affordance,editability affordance,persistence affordance and team performance;task dependence plays a positive moderating role between enterprise social media association affordance and knowledge sharing;task dependence plays a positive moderating effect between enterprise social media visibility affordance,association affordance and team trust.The theoretical model established in this paper enriched the application scenarios of the theory of affordance in the field of information system,and deepened the understanding of the enterprise social media affordance.It also enriched the relevant research on the enterprise social media and team performance,and explained the mechanism of the enterprise social media's effect on team performance,which has an outstanding theoretical contribution.The results of the study are also instructive for managers.First,managers should make full use of the enterprise social media to understand the characteristics of team members,such as expertise,reasonably assign work tasks,and optimize the structure of organizational members.Secondly,managers should formulate more perfect standards for the use of enterprise social media and emphasize to employees that daily work communication should be conducted on enterprise social media.Furthermore,enterprise social media developers can optimize the design of persistence of enterprise social media platform and promote the application and promotion of enterprise social media.
