The Narrative Study On The Typical Character Report Of China Power Column In Zhiyin

Zhi Yin Media put forward the propaganda concept of "promoting the main theme,telling Chinese stories well,and demonstrating Chinese strength" in September 2018.At the same time,it launched "China Power" column to represent who made outstanding contributions during the 40 years of reform and opening up.The column showed distinctive narrative features and caused strong and good social responses.Combining narratology and news narratology,this article took the typical character reports of “China Power” column in Zhi Yin as the main research objects.Taking 33 reports from September 2018 to October 2019 as samples,the article used the method of narrative to perform systematic analysis from three levels of text,context and structure,and six dimensions of narrative position,narrative time,narrative subject,narrative perspective,narrative focalization and narrative structure.The research found that the reports of “China Power” take flashback as the overall time frame,embedded in sequential narration,flash-forward and narration interspersed with flashbacks according to narrative needs.Omission,outline,scene,pause and other narrative time span are used in combination.These reports also intersperse with single narration,outline narration and repeated narration.Then it formed a narrative time strategy of multi-sequential nesting,multi-distance crossing and multi-frequency interspersing.The reports adopt a narrative style combining internal and external visual angles,interweaving the first-person narrative situation and the third-person narrative situation,interspersed narrative with narrators of “inside the story-the same story” and “outside the story-the different story”,which both observing and telling stories from a limited perspective.Give consideration to the objective statement of the narrators outside the story and the true feeling of the narrators inside the story,the reporters' “external visual angle” link up the full text,and the characters' “internal visual angle” narrate the details.So it constructed a concrete and perceptible narrative situation that is close to life.In the arrangement of narrative structure,“China Power” penetrates the journalistic style and the novel style into each other,based on the framework of time connection,mixing two structures of causality and spatial connection.Centering on the typical characters,the basic sequence structure includes roughly the cause,process and result,forming a relatively fixed narrative pattern: with innovation,diligence and other qualities—set big goals—dedication and unremitting struggle—the dilemma of family and country—the wife supports the family—throw himself into work — overcome work difficulties — make an achievement or receive honors —overdraft due to overwork—died of illness or return to the family.Taking the focus on individual values and female growth as a narrative position,the reports of “China Power” focus on the freshness,importance and intimacy of typical characters,construct the character image with not only the tendency of limited type,but also characteristics of the times.However,there is a tendency of sensationalism of “Zhi Yin ti” in the narrative style which has strong intervention,affecting the authenticity of the narrative to some extent.Therefore,it is suggested that the narrative of “China Power” should strengthen the principle of objectivity,get rid of stereotypes,adhere to the multi-value orientation,and further optimize the report of typical characters.
