Masculinity,originally a sociological category,is the core of male studies in gender culture,and scholars focus on its mode of construction.Experts and scholars at home and abroad have made numerous researches across the field of gender analysis and media culture.The research results based on feminism in the early days are quite fruitful.Later,in order not to change the original intention of gender equality,the originally neglected research on masculinities has been placed in an important position.For a long time,the researches on masculinities in China are based on films,TV plays,TV programs,etc.in the media of film and television communication,which are of great significance.However,there are few researches on the masculinities of the host as the "middleman" in media communication.There is no doubt that the research on the construction of masculinities by host communication is indispensable.Compared with the combination of reality and fiction when describing characters in movies and TV plays,real-life hosts are more real and vivid.They have history,present,potential future and dynamic continuity.Their masculinities can fully reflect the aesthetic logic of the public.Only by fully understanding the masculinities in the process of host communication,can we basically clarify the strengths and weaknesses of gender culture building,even the construction of mass culture,and provide theoretical and practical guidance for China's culture development.Based on this,this study focuses on the proposition of the construction of masculinities by host communication.With the attitude of interdisciplinary research,combined with the rich theories of masculinities in gender sociology,host communication,film and television culture,semiotics,mass communication and other fields,this thesis is placed in the context of political and economic development,social ideological change and postmodern consumerism,and analyzes the hosts' masculinities in different periods and program types,and studies the acceptance and rejection of the hosts' masculinities by audience aesthetics from a cross-cultural perspective,and explores the constructionprocess and practical significance of host communication on masculinities.Host communication has gone through 40 years.It has gone through three historical periods: the start,development and transformation of traditional media in China.It is facing the baptism of the wave of media integration,and has basically formed a development vein from the prominence of hegemonic masculinity to the confrontation and negotiation with traditional masculinity to the inclusiveness of diversified masculinities.The masculinities of host communication can be represented by the vocal language symbols and vice-language symbols.At present,the audience's aesthetic heterogeneity is obvious,and the attitude towards various masculinities in the host communication is also different.The pluralistic presentation of masculinities in host communication has basically broken the traditional dominant myth of hegemonic masculinity,but the problems of host masculinities configuration direction,public screening ability and gender cultural awareness still need to be solved.
