A Comparative Analysis Of "School Bullying" Reports Between People's Daily Online And Tencent Network(2016-2018)

Recently,the frequently occurrence of "campus bullying" incidents constantly impacting the moral awareness of the public.A large number of violent and insulting bullying acts are inappropriately reported and widely disseminated by the online media,which will cause public panic and even malicious imitation of the audience.In addition,most of the bullies and victims are minors,and the excessive exposure of online media will have a negative impact on the mentally immature minors,including the pressure of negative public opinion and invasion of their privacy.As an important mass media,online media influences the audience's cognition with its advanced means of communication.Therefore,it is significant to study whether the content and the choice of news frames of "school bullying" reported by the online media are reasonable,and whether there are differences in the media image of related groups when they are reported in different news frames.This paper takes the reports of "school bullying" on People's Daily Online and Tencent Network,then selects the reports from 2016 to 2018 for sampling.Under the guidance of the news frame theory,this paper makes a comparative study of the two by using content analysis method.Because the property and location of the platform of People's Daily Online and Tencent Network are quite different,we can intuitively find the differences,problems and the optimization space between them by using comparative analysis.The comparative study of this paper can be divided into three levels: first,by analyzing the contents of the reports of "school bullying" on People's Daily Online and Tencent Network,we can find that there are significant differences in content production and presentation methods.People's Daily Online mostly convey national policies or announce the results of processing in the form of messages,which means the reports try to avoid the risks that may be brought by the dangerous topics.Tencent Network's reports are more focusing on the contradictory groups and the description of bullying details.Tencent Network improve the awareness of minors privacy.Secondly,by comparing the differences of news frames between "school bullying" reports of People's Daily Online and Tencent Network,the author finds that the fact news frame and policy news frame are frequently and intensively used by People's Daily Online.Tencent Network's news frame are greatly influenced and change obviously by the theme of the reports.Besides the fact news frame,Tencent Network tends to use the human news frame and conflict news frame.Finally,by comparing the multi-group images of different news frames between People's Daily Online and Tencent Network,we can find that People's Daily Online tends to maintain the positive image of the government and schools within the news frames of policies and facts.While Tencent Network tends to show negative images of bullies and schools within the human and conflicts news frame,such as shifting the blames to each other.Through the above three levels,the author digs deeply into the differences between People's Daily Online and Tencent Network's "school bullying" reports,and tries to find out the reasons of the differences.In addition,by comparing analysis,there are obvious some problems existing in the reports of "school bullying" on online media.Last but not the least,there are some relevant suggestions for these problems.When reporting the "school bullying" incidents,journalists need to improve their professional accomplishment,control the reporting scale reasonably,and actively channel the public opinion.
