As the global telecommunication market has not been developed quickly while the competition in Chinese market also changed a lot,the foreign capital company of telecommunication equipment faces more and more challenge and obstacle when trying to develop further in China.How do the R&D talents in such environment,as the most important resource in R&D department,plan for their career development? How do the R&D employees to get better career development? How can company setup the career development strategy and actions effectively for them?This paper mainly refers theory of incentive and career development.It firstly discusses the current status and future trend of telecommunication market,especially in China,and summarize the opportunity and challenge that equipment foreign company faces based on the situation of Ericsson as an example.According to the working experience in Ericsson and discussion with many R&D employees,the author summarizes the “career development influence factors model”.Together with the questionnaire and interview done for R&D employees from Ericsson Shanghai,the author analyzes the career development requirement for R&D people and propose the career development strategy and actions.These actions should be taken by employee and company together.From employee perspective,they are: enhance self-awareness,setup career development goal,reflect every day,follow industry trend,expose networking,actively join technical summit,listen feedback from others.From company perspective,they are: plan challenge work,provide opportunity for innovative work,provide learning chances,make company more stable,define clear promotion channel,create active teamwork,setup mentorship system.
