Following the new curriculum standard,the curriculum reform of biology in high scholl is proceeding in China today.The theme of the curriculum reform of biology is core literacy.The education goal of core literacy is to emphasize that the curriculum teaching should enable students to actively discover problems,solve problems,participate in inquiryed learning,understand the concepts deeply and improve the ability to apply knowledge,cultivate their the core literacy of disciplines.The PBL is problem-based learning and PBL-based teaching mode is a method with the orientation of questions.In order to effectively implement the concept of new curriculum reform and the goal of core literacy of biology,this study tries to build up a teaching model based on the PBL accoding on the related concepts,The PBL-based mode means teachers to construct the real question situation and organize students to carry out the inquiry learning around the solving problems autonomously or group cooperation,means students actively to learn knowledge and build up the concept of biology during the process of solving problem,to cultivate the sensiblity to problem awareness and the ability to extract information,analyse and solve problem,to practice critical thinking and finally to develop core literacy of biology.This study is expected to broaden views and provide references for educational workers.The study contents are as follows:(1)Through literature study this paper made out study progress of PBL in civil and abroad,clarified the connotation of PBL,defined the concept of PBL and the teaching mode based on the PBL,refined the theoretical foundation and built up the implementation target and steps of the teaching mode.This paper also performed the feasibility analysis of the teaching mode from the requirement of curriculum standard of the biology and the features of students in high school.(2)According to study purposes,this paper formulated the survey questionnaire about the current situation of high school students' learning biology with the current teaching mode and the outlines of the interview with teachers,and then implemented the survey of the current situation and analyzed and concluded the result of the survey.(3)With the example from parts of PEP's Molecules and Cells,this study designed teaching cases and performed contrast experiment between the PBL-based teaching mode and the classical teaching mode in X middle school of S City.At the end of the experiment,the questionnaire of students and the test papers of biology were used to assess the experiment effect.The data were processed and analysed by statistics methods,and conclusions about the the gains and losses and improvement suggestions of this study were also summarized.The results of this study are follows:(1)Through the theoretical study,the connotations of PBL,PBL-based teaching mode and theoretical foundations are concluded.(2)The results of the current situation investigation show a huge development space for PBL-based teaching mode.(3)The rsults of the teaching experiment show that PBL-based teaching mode had improved students' ability to solve problems of biology,which mainly exhibited on students' increasing awareness on discoverying problem,the more effective methods of handling problems and the stronger ability to analyze and solve problems.According to the result of the test papers for assessing the core literacy of biology,the scores of the experimental class with PBL-based teaching mode is significantly higher than the control class(P<0.05)which means that PBL-based teaching mode could boost the development of students' core literacy of biology in high school.The test results of the final-exam paper for the biology show that PBL-based teaching mode could significantly increase the students' acheivement in biology(P<0.05).(4)The application of PBL-based teaching mode for biology in high school has theoretical and practical feasibility.The theoretical feasibility is that PBL-based teaching mode is consistent with the requirement of the curriculum standard of the biology in high school,teaching method of PBL-based teaching mode is suitable for the high school students' knowledge level,comprehensive ability and personality characteristics.The practical feasibility is that PBL-based teaching mode gains good effects in practice.
