Reading ability refers to the individual psychological characteristics that must be possessed to complete the whole process of reading independently,and it is a comprehensive reflection of Chinese literacy.Cultivating the reading ability of low-level students is an important part of Chinese teaching.In the junior stage of primary school,picture books stand out from many extracurricular books with easy-to-understand language and colorful pictures.Using picture books to carry out reading teaching can cultivate students’ interest in reading.It plays an important role in improving students’ language literacy and improving students reading ability.The cultivation of the reading ability of rural primary school students has always been in a weak link.Therefore,this study takes the junior stage students of rural primary schools as the research object and uses picture books as the carrier to carry out action research on the improvement of students’ reading ability.This study takes the second-grade students of P primary school as the research object to carry out action research.This action research is divided into three stages: the first stage is a preliminary exploration of picture book teaching,the second stage is adjustment and improvement,and the third stage is improvement It starts from the selection of picture books,the formulation of goals,the implementation of the teaching process,the teaching effect and reflection.with finishing.After the action research,we evaluated the effectiveness of the action research.The evaluation results showed that the selection of picture books in the action research was reasonable,and the teaching method of picture book reading was worthy of promotion in the lower grades of rural primary schools,which fully mobilized students’ enthusiasm for reading and stimulated,the reading ability has been effectively improved.The researchers and participating teachers have achieved professional growth in education in this action research.According to the results of this action study,picture books have a significant effect on improving the reading ability of rural low-level primary school students.Therefore,the researchers put forward the following suggestions,hoping to provide experience for more rural schools: teachers should improve their understanding of picture book reading teaching,Select classic picture books,formulate targeted teaching goals,promote the diversification of teaching forms,and diversify evaluation methods;schools should increase book purchases,provide students with abundant reading resources,and ensure that students have sufficient reading time,Create a good campus cultural atmosphere;families should actively play their role,advocate parent-child reading together,and create a good reading atmosphere.
