As a very important prerequisite for children's social development,empathy is considered to be the precursor of moral development.How to effectively promote children's empathy has received widespread attention from teachers and parents.As an emerging form of children's literature,picture books are not only easy for children to understand,but also have diversified educational resources.They are also sought after by teachers and parents because of their encompassing story content and various forms of expression.In this thesis,75 preschoolers aged 4-5 were measured by questionnaire under the intervention of two themed picture books and two teaching methods,in an attempt to further understand the development of children's social emotions.Based on the review of the development of picture book education at home and abroad and the research status of the cultivation of children's empathy ability,this thesis selected picture books with different themes as the carrier,and carried out the research on the cultivation of children's empathy ability with middle class children as the subjects through different teaching methods.Taking children's empathic ability and its changes as dependent variables,the study adopted an experimental design of 2(picture book theme: emotional theme,social theme)× 2(training method: cognitive intervention,emotional intervention),and conducted pre-tests,In mid-test and post-test,another control group was set up for comparison.Use the Basic Empathy Scale as a measuring tool to explore the influence of picture book reading on children's empathy ability.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)Picture book reading training can effectively improve children's empathy ability.In the pre-test,the empathy scores of the experimental group and the control group were not significantly different;while in the mid-test and post-test,the scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group.(2)The emotional theme drawing instinct can affect the empathy ability in a shorter time.Emotional theme picture book reading training can be significantly different from the control group at mid-test(3 weeks),while social theme picture book reading training is significantly different from the control group at post-test time(6 weeks).(3)The order of training methods also has a certain influence.The implementation sequence of cognitive intervention and affective intervention training methods will have an impact on the cognitive empathy of young children,and the cognitive-emotional intervention sequence is significantly better than the affective-cognitive intervention sequence.(4)The empathy ability of young children is mainly embodied in two aspects: cognition and emotion.Picture book reading teaching method adopts cognitive intervention method,which significantly improves the cognitive component of empathy,but has no significant effect on its emotional component;affective intervention method has a significant impact on the emotional component of empathy,but does not affect it Its cognitive component.
