Research On The Improvement Of Garbage Sorting Ability Of The Elderly In Community Distress

Among the potential groups of garbage sorting,the community elderly in predicament is one of the most noticeable groups.It is difficult for them to catch up with the trend of garbage sorting in a certain period of time due to the fact that they lack of garbage classification knowledge,less on comprehension,and lack of garbage sorting practice and community participation.Traditional garbage sorting focuses on the investments in garbage sorting facilities and publicity,ignoring the difference of the audience's ability to accept knowledge,leads to the differences in the investments obtained.And this make the elderly in predicament a sense of “powerlessness in garbage sorting” stronger.This study analyzes the specific reasons for the sense of the elderly in predicament,which are mainly for it's not care about their selfinterest,garbage sorting knowledge are insufficient,lack of motivated to learn garbage sorting knowledge,get used to mixed collection of garbage,inconvenience of garbage sorting,garbage sorting publicity activities are rarely organized,neighborhood's garbage sorting awareness is weak and lack of supervision on garbage disposals.Based on the perspective of empowerment,this study carried out the "get together" garbage sorting ability improvement group to solve the sense of the elderly for three levels: personal knowledge,family practice and community participation.The intervention path is to increase the reserve of garbage sorting knowledge,promote the practice of household garbage sorting and participate in garbage sorting community activities as the main line,and to improve communication and sharing,cooperate with each other,improve self-expression as the secondary line.The purpose of the path is to help the elderly in predicament absorb and reserve the garbage sorting knowledge,inspire their garbage sorting initiative,and improving their garbage sorting ability.This intervention mode shows that: firstly,the group work is effective and feasible,the empowerment theory is suitable for improving the garbage sorting ability of the elderly in predicament;Secondly,participating in garbage sorting community activities as an activity planner can greatly enhance the elderly's confidence in garbage sorting.Therefore,the author summarizes the ways to improve the garbage sorting ability of the elderly in predicament: learning knowledge to change understanding,increasing practice to strengthen action and participating in community activities to put the knowledge into action.
