From The Perspective Of Empowerment, Social Work Intervenes In The Adjustment Predicament Of Newly Admitted Elderly People In Elderly Care Institution

With the aggravation of the aging of population,the problem of supporting the aged has been paid more and more attention by the government and all walks of life.In the current social background,many families cannot provide home care services for the elderly for some reasons,resulting in a sharp increase in the pressure of community care.Therefore,many families will choose to send the elderly to nursing homes or pension institutions,so that they can spend their retirement life in the institution.However,relevant studies show that the elderly often cannot quickly and well adapt to institutional life after entering pension institutions,and there will be a series of problems of accommodation adaptation.They need a certain amount of time to adapt to the new living environment.Through literature review and field research,this paper studied and observed the living conditions of the new elderly residents in pension institutions and their performance in adapting to difficulties.Through the visit and observation in X nursing home in Y City,the author found that there were problems such as poor psychological adjustment,weak personal initiative support,lack of interpersonal skills and low social participation among the new residents in the nursing home.These problems create a sense of impotence that affects happiness in old age.Therefore,the author puts forward the research topic of "From the perspective of empowerment,social work intervention in the adjustment dilemma of the new residents of pension institutions",aiming to help the new residents tap their potential,grant them certain power,improve their sense of self-efficacy,and enhance their self-esteem and self-confidence through empowerment theory.First of all,the author introduces the basic situation of new residents in X nursing Home in Y City.Secondly,through relevant interviews and participatory observation,this paper summarizes the performance of the adaptation dilemma of the new elderly residents and analyzes the causes.Then,combining the three aspects of empowerment theory and the interaction between individuals and the environment in social adaptation theory,a series of group activities were designed and carried out to help the elderly to enhance their empowerment.Through practical intervention,it is concluded that the new elderly can adjust their psychology and establish correct cognition.In addition,at the individual level,the elderly can strengthen individual initiative support,and their interpersonal communication skills have also increased,but the elderly's social participation level is still lacking,and institutions and society should make more efforts to improve.Finally,the author summarizes the adaptation dilemma of the new residents in the intervention nursing institutions from the perspective of energy enhancement and puts forward relevant suggestions.
