| Since the beginning of new century,the use of Chinese as a second language has been increasing and that makes international Chinese education develop rapidly.Teaching materials are basic element in the education process.Although,the teaching of Chinese in Thailand is developing swiftly but still there are problems with the supply of Chinese teaching materials.In order to understand the use of Chinese textbooks in middle schools of northern Thailand,this study used 23 middle schools in northern Thailand as a sample and used the method of questionnaire to investigate and analyze the use of Chinese teaching materials in northern Thailand,starting with the teachers and students who used the textbooks.The survey results shows that most of the schools have chosen textbooks on their own.Each Chinese textbook has its own advantages and disadvantages.There are also several problems,such as lack of Chinese textbook types,grammatical explanations,grammatical comparisons,culture and common sense,history,stories in Chinese textbooks,teacher's books and workbooks,etc.In order for the teaching materials to better meet the goals of the Thai Chinese syllabus and to improve students' s Chinese college entrance examination scores,the result of this study concluded that it is very important to choose suitable and open Chinese teaching materials,and the learning content must meet the goals of academic performance.The subsequent aspects should be considered;one is suitable for students' s Chinese proficiency,the second is appropriate learning goals and curriculum implementation,and the third is suitable for students' s learning needs.This study will be helpful for Thai teachers in using Thai Chinese textbooks and will help them to better meet the requirements of the Thai Ministry of Education for Chinese language teaching when selecting textbooks,and more in line with the standards of Chinese college entrance examination,and improve the use efficiency of Chinese textbooks. |
