The "China STEM Education White Paper" pointed out that the biggest bottleneck facing STEM education in the implementation of schools is the problem of teachers.It can be seen that with the rapid development of STEM education,the competence of teachers 'STEM education plays an important role in the school's STEM teaching.Therefore,clarify the connotation of teachers' STEM education competence,construct a set of junior middle school teachers' STEM education competency index system,evaluate the junior middle school teachers' STEM education competence,discover problems,and propose effective promotion strategies for the problems.First of all,by combing the existing literature research and analyzing the STEM education related literature policies,a set of index system for junior high school teachers' STEM education competence is initially constructed;secondly,through secret interviews with experts,supplement and improve various indicators to form the final Junior high school teachers' STEM education competency index system.Finally,through questionnaire surveys,interviews,etc.,to investigate the competence of STEM education of junior middle school teachers in N City,Ningxia,and found problems:lack of STEM professional knowledge of teachers,especially in engineering technology knowledge;weak teaching ability of STEM teachers;lack of teachers to create STEM education situations Ability;teachers' STEM curriculum development and integration capabilities are slightly inadequate;teachers' enthusiasm for participating in STEM scientific research is not high;teachers' understanding of the value of STEM education needs to be improved The reasons for these problems are mainly as follows:the education department attaches importance to teachers' STEM education competence,but the system and management lag behind;teachers'awareness of STEM education professional knowledge and ability improvement is weak;the construction of teachers' STEM education learning community is not in place;the lack of STEM education teacher training or professional training.Finally,the research proposes a strategy for improving the competence of STEM education of junior middle school teachers in N City,Ningxia:Establish a junior middle school teacher's competence training system for STEM education;Strengthen teachers' awareness of STEM education professional knowledge and ability,and establish a lifelong learning concept;Strengthen the construction of teachers 'STEM learning community and promote communication and cooperation between teachers;Improve teachers' professional training mechanism for STEM education.
