Vitiligo is a common acquired depigmentation skin and mucosal disease, traditional Chinese literature called it "BaiDian"?"Baifo"?"BanBo","Banbai",etc. In the the pathogenesis of vitiligo, there was no significant correlation with gender and age.Mostly it affects the appearence. In severe cases,it can affect life and mental health.Although the pathogenesis of vitiligo is not very clear, many studies have shown that the pathogenesis of vitiligo is related to autoimmunity.Transforming growth factor-?(TGF-?),as a growth promoter, was involved in many important physiological and pathological processes, and plays an important role in maintaining the immune balance of the body.Recent studies have focused on the possible role of TGF-? as an immunomodulator in autoimmunity. This study further explored the effect on the level of serum transforming factor ?1 between combining Chinese and Western medicine therapy and traditional treatment. Objective:By using randomized controlled trials to investigate the changes of serum TGF-?1before and after the treatment, which vitiligo patients were both treated with "BaiBo" tincture and ultraviolet radiation,to provide evidence for the treatment and pathogenesis of combining Chinese and western medicine. Methods:In this study, patients diagnosed with vitiligo in stable phase were selected from the dermatology department of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affliated Hospital who volunteered to participate in this study during March 2019 to December 2020.Patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group was externally treated with "BaiBo" tincture,a traditional Chinese medicine preparation that coated twice a day,as well as the narrow spectrum medium wave ultraviolet radiation. The control group was treated with narrow-spectrum medium wave ultraviolet 3 times a week.Serum TGF-?1 levels were measured before and after treatment for 12 weeks, and the results were recorded and analyzed by using SPSS21.0.Result:A total of 64 patients, including 45 males and 19 females, were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 31 cases in the treatment group and 31 cases in the control group. After statistical analysis, there was no significant difference in gender and age, which showed clinical comparability. After 12 weeks of treatment, the level of serum TGF-?1 was compared between the two groups before and after the treatment:the level of serum TGF-?1 in the treatment group was significantly higher than before, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01);The level of serum TGF-?1 in the control group was not significantly different from that before treatment, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The serum TGF-?1 level was compared between the treatment group and the control group 12 weeks after treatment. Before treatment,1 there was no differen of the level of TGF-?between the treatment group and the control group. After treatment, there was no significant difference in the level of serum TGF-?1 between these two groups(P>0.05).The level of serum TGF-?1 of all the patients in these two groups was statistically analyzed according to certain age segments. There was no significant difference in serum TGF-?1 levels between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05).The level of serum TGF-?1 were statistically analyzed in each group according to gender. There was no significant difference in the level of serum TGF-?1 between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion:The results of this study showed that the combination of external tincture of traditional Chinese medicine and NB-UVB in the treatment of vitiligo patients in stable phase has a certain influence on the level of serum TGF-?1.After 12 weeks of treatment, the level of serum TGF of the treatment group was significantly increased, and the difference of the level of serum TGF-?1 between before and after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.01).After 12 weeks of treatment, the level of serum TGF-?1 in control group showed no significant difference before and after treatment, with no statistical significance(P>0.05).Therefore,it can be concluded that tincture combined with phototherapy can increase the level of serum TGF-?1 of vitiligo patients to a certain extent. After treatment, there was no significant difference in the level of serum TGF-?1 between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05).It can be concluded that there are certain confounding factors affecting the level of serum TGF-?1 of patients.According to the analysis of the different baseline characteristics of the included patients, there was no statistical significance in the level of serum TGF-?1 between the treatment group and the control group at all ages(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the level of serum TGF-?1 between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05).Therefore,gender and age could be excluded as confounding factors affecting the level of serum TGF-?1 before and after treatment.
