Objective: In this study, patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation with wind-cold and dampness syndrome were treated with warm acupuncture and ordinary acupuncture respectively.Visual analog scale(VAS)and Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)scores were used as observation indexes before and after treatment to compare the changes of observation indexes before and after treatment in the two groups. To provide effective clinical evidence for the evaluation of warm acupuncture treatment of lumbar disc herniation of wind-cold and dampness syndrome. Methods: 60 patients who met the standard were randomly divided into observation group(warm acupuncture treatment group)and control group(ordinary acupuncture treatment group),with 30 cases in each group. There were 3 shedding cases,57 effective cases,29 in the observation group and28 in the control group. All patients were treated for 2 courses(5 times a week,1 course for 2 consecutive weeks). The changes of visual analogue scale(VAS)and Japan Orthopaedic Association(JOA)scores were recorded before and after treatment, and the collected receipts were statistically analyzed.Results:(1)Comparison between groups: after treatment,VAS and JOA scores of 2groups were compared, observation group was better than control group(P < 0.05),which was statistically significant;(2)Intra-group comparison: VAS and JOA scores of 2 groups before and after treatment showed statistically significant differences(P< 0.05);(3)Comparison of comprehensive efficacy: The total effective rate of warm acupuncture and moxibustion was 79%,and the total effective rate of the control group was 61%.There was a statistical difference in the total effective rate between the two groups(P < 0.05).The significant effective rate of warm acupuncture and moxibustion group was 62%,while that of the control group was 36%,indicating a statistical difference between the two groups(P < 0.05).The warm acupuncture and moxibustion group showed obvious effect, which was better than the ordinary acupuncture group. In the course of treatment, there were no other adverse conditions.Conclusion:(1)Therapeutic effect of warm acupuncture on lumbar disc herniation of wind-cold and dampness syndrome is definite.(2)Warm acupuncture is better than ordinary acupuncture in treating lumbar disc herniation of wind-cold and dampness syndrome.
