With the prosperity of the tourism industry and the improvement of its status,there is an urgent need for professional first-line service personnel to provide tourists with highquality professional services.Tourism service and management major trains a large number of professional first-line service personnel for the tourism industry.In the process of training,students’ career cognition of tourism work affects their professional study and future employment choices,which in turn will have a long-term impact on the supply of talents and quality improvement in the tourism industry.This research takes the students major in tourism service and management in secondary vocational schools as the research object,analyzes the career cognition of tourism work of students major in tourism service and management in secondary vocational schools,and explores the factors that affect the career cognition and the formation reasons of career cognition,and finally suggestions are made on the strengthening of cognition in order to provide a certain reference for the school’s career cognition education.This research uses a questionnaire survey method to investigate the career cognition of students major in tourism service and management in secondary vocational schools.Based on previous studies,the career cognition is divided into four categories: selfconcept,professional knowledge,professional value,and professional planning.In terms of dimensions,the " Career Cognition Survey Questionnaire for Students Major in Tourism and Management Service in Secondary Vocational schools" was compiled.The questionnaire contains two parts: the personal situation of students and the career cognition scale.Taking tourism service and management students from eight secondary vocational schools in Chongqing Municipality as the research object,the empirical data needed for the research were obtained through the Internet and on-site questionnaires.After analyzing the data,the following conclusions are drawn:First,at present,the overall career cognition of the students major in tourism service and management in secondary vocational schools is as follows: First,the students’ ability self-confidence and ability panic coexist,and the ability breadth and precision are not enough.Second,students have a solid knowledge of the industry,and have a good understanding and recognition of the characteristics related to tourism work.Third,students hold a general attitude towards the career value,and have an obvious perception of the economic value of the career,but a low perception of the social value of the career.Fourth,students have the intention of employment,but lack of employment guidance and lack of access to career information.Second,different demographic attributes have an impact on various dimensions of career cognition.Specifically,whether students’ relatives and friends are engaged in tourism work is different in the students’ cognition of professional value;others around them have different views on tourism work in terms of self-concept cognition,vocational knowledge cognition,vocational value cognition,and career planning cognition.There are differences;there are obvious differences in students’ self-concept cognition,vocational knowledge cognition,career value cognition,and career planning cognition for the different reasons for studying;the difference in practical experience is in selfconcept cognition and career value cognition is the most obvious;the differences in students’ personal travel experience are more obvious in terms of self-concept.Third,combining the survey results and the actual situation,the reasons for the formation of students’ career cognition are discussed from three aspects: personal,school and environment,and combining embodied cognition theory to discuss the formation reasons of career cognition.Guided by the theory of vocational self-concept,this research puts forward the following suggestions for strengthening the cognition of students major in tourism service and management in secondary vocational schools: based on professional teaching,promote the integration of emotion teaching;attach importance to professional cognition education and carry out a variety of activities;deepen the school enterprise cooperation provides a platform for perception;strengthens career planning education and improves the practicality of courses.In order to help students better understand the profession,identify with the profession,and realize personal and social values. |
