Ethnic Chinese children are a special group of overseas Chinese learners.They have good listening and speaking skills,but their ability to write Chinese characters is relatively weak.Special research on them can enrich the content of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The video playback function of online teaching provides the possibility to study the dynamic writing process of Chinese characters.Through this research,we can understand the process of learners’ acquisition of Chinese characters.This paper takes 17 ethnic Chinese children in North America who taught by the author as the research object,discusses the online Chinese character learning problems of the lecturers through the questionnaire survey,uses the teaching video playback to summarize the types of errors in the dynamic writing process,compares the typical errors between dynamic writing process and the static writing result,analyzes the causes of errors from three aspects: teachers,students,and learning environment,and proposes online Chinese character teaching strategies.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,mainly elaborates the origin of the topic,research status,the research significance and the research methods.The second chapter introduces the development of Chinese teaching in North America,explains the teaching platform and textbooks used by the author,and summarizes the learning characteristics of the research objects through the form of questionnaire.The third chapter summarizes the types of errors in dynamic writing process by using teaching video replay,analyzes the typical errors in static writing result and dynamic writing process,and compares the similarities and differences between them.In the process of dynamic writing,there are some prominent errors such as the strokes are misconnected and miscut,the direction of the strokes is changed,and the strokes are written with the irregular stroke order.Due to the influence of writing tools,in the process of dynamic writing,there are many characters with scattered structure errors.Therefore,we should pay attention to combining paper and pen writing to strengthen practice in online Chinese character teaching.The fourth chapter discusses the causes of writing errors among ethnic Chinese children in North America from the aspects of learners,teachers and learning environment,and proposes corresponding teaching strategies.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the learning characteristics of ethnic Chinese learners in North America,summarizes the types and causes of Chinese character writing errors of ethnic Chinese learners in North America,and summarizes the online Chinese character teaching methods.
