| After entering the university,freshmen are faced with adaptation problems in environment,professional study,interpersonal communication and personal emotion,due to the environment,life,learning style and interpersonal network are different from those before.Studies have shown that freshmen’s adaptation can directly or indirectly affect their mental health,while maladjustment can predict their negative emotions,self-harm behaviors,Internet addiction and so on,which has aroused widespread concern of researchers.Previous studies have shown that self-esteem is the psychological mechanism for individuals to adapt to the social and cultural environment,and high self-esteem is helpful for individuals to adapt.In addition,self-concept clarity and self-esteem are related but different psychological structures,and individuals with high self-concept clarity may have better adaptability.Therefore,this study intends to explore the relationship between self-esteem and freshmen’s school adaptation,and investigate the mediating role of self-concept clarity in their relationship,so as to reveal the influence of self-esteem on freshmen’s school adaptation and its mechanism,and further intervene individual self-concept clarity through group psychological counseling to promote freshmen’s school adaptation.In the first study,a questionnaire survey was conducted among freshmen in a comprehensive university in Wuhan.A total of 401 data were collected,of which 378 were valid data,including 199 boys(52.6%)and 179 girls(49.8%).The research tools included the Chinese version of Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale,the Campbell version of self-concept clarity questionnaire translated by Niu Gengfeng,and the adaptation scale for freshmen revised by Ou Yangjuan.The relationship among freshmen’s self-esteem,self-concept clarity and school adaptation was discussed.On the basis of study 1,study 2 made a group counseling program for self-concept clarity,and set up 8 people in the test group and 8 people in the control group respectively.Group counseling activities were carried out for 8 times in the test group,while the control group did not do any treatment,so as to explore whether group counseling of self-concept clarity has a significant effect on school adaptation.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Self-esteem can positively predict freshmen’s school adaptation;(2)Self-concept clarity partially mediates the relationship between self-esteem and freshmen’s school adaptation;(3)Self-concept clarity group counseling program can effectively improve the level of freshmen’s self-concept clarity and school adaptation.This study provides a new perspective and theoretical basis for the intervention of school adaptation.It is effective and easy to operate in the self-concept clarity,which provides reference for the design of intervention program,and can be applied to the practical intervention of mental health education in university. |
