| Technical school freshmen are a special group. They are in adolescence. After failing in the high school entrance examination, they come to a brand new school and start a new stage of life. After entering the school, the first challenge freshmen face is to adapt to the new living environment and learning environment. In this environment, freshmen have to learn to deal with the dormitory relationship, the relationship between classmates and the relationship between teachers and students. The quality of interpersonal relationship of freshmen in technical schools has a direct impact on their mental health level. What’s more, their interpersonal adaptability is seriously low.The freshmen even have self-injury behavior. Therefore,it is urgent to pay attention to the interpersonal adaptation of freshmen in technical schools. This research includes two parts.Study 1 chooses 552 freshmen in Nanjing Jiankang Technical School as the research objects.During study 1,the Interpersonal Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale was used to investigate the levels of interpersonal adaptation among freshmen. At the same time,Adolescents Self-Harm Scale was used to investigate the frequency and severity of injuries, and then to investigate the relationship between the interpersonal adaptability and self-harm behaviors. In Study 2,24 freshmen with low level of interpersonal adaptation were selected according to the results of the Interpersonal Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale in Study 1,and randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. Moreover, the freshmen in the experimental group were given group psychological counseling intervention on interpersonal adaptation.By comparing the level of interpersonal adaptability between the experimental group and the control group before and after group psychological counseling, the effect of group tutoring on interpersonal adaptability of new skilled workers was investigated. The results of the first study show that:(1)from the perspective of interpersonal adaptability, the overall interpersonal adaptability of freshmen in technical schools is relatively good(mean score and standard deviation: 4.27±4.46).61.78% of freshmen had no interpersonal adjustment problem,31.16% had mild interpersonal adjustment problem, and 5.25% had serious interpersonal adjustment problem.(2)The interpersonal adaptability of freshmen from different places of origin is significantly different. The score of interpersonal distress of freshmen from urban areas is significantly lower than that of freshmen from rural areas.(3)Freshmen of different genders, single child or parents with different educational levels have no significant differences in interpersonal adaptability.(4)From the perspective of self-injuring behavior,78.74% of freshmen had no self-injuring behavior and 21.26% had self-injuring behavior.(5)There was a significant negative correlation between interpersonal adaptability and self-injuring behavior of technical school freshmen(r=-0.34).The lower the level of interpersonal adaptation, the more likely the individual is to have self-injuring behavior. The intervention results of study 2 showed that there was no significant difference in interpersonal disturbance scores between the experimental group and the control group during the pre-test.After two months of interpersonal adaptation group counseling, the total score of interpersonal disturbance in the experimental group and the scores of interpersonal communication, interpersonal friendship, attitude toward people and heterosexual communication were significantly lower than the control group.Combined with the results of study 1 and 2,conclusion can be drawn as follow :(1)The freshmen in technical schools have some interpersonal problems and some students have self-harm behavior.(2)Interpersonal adaptation group counseling can effectively reduce the degree of interpersonal disturbance of freshmen in technical schools. |
