In recent years,with the increase of mental health awareness in the whole society,life meaning education,which is urgent,has gradually become the focus in school mental health education.Family is the cradle of individual development,and parenting style has a profound influence on individual personality formation.Parental psychological control,as a specific way of parenting,takes inhibiting children’s independence as its core characteristic.Numerous studies have shown that parental psychological control will limit adolescents’self-perception and reduce their self-evaluation,which will have an impact on the individual’s meaning in life.However,it is the critical period for adolescents to explore themselves deeply in high school.Upon their own practice,they keep refining their self-concept and exploring their sense of meaning in life by that.Based on this,drawing self-concept clarity into the study of parental psychological control on the sense of meaning in life,this study aims to investigate the mediating role of self-concept clarity in the relationship between parental psychological control and secondary school students’ sense of meaning in life,and to provide a basis for high school students’ meaning in life education by intervening in high school students’ self-concept clarity with group counseling.Study 1 used a questionnaire to examine the relationship between parental psychological control,self-concept clarity,and sense of meaning in life among high school students.The questionnaire was administered to 871 high school students in Fuzhou City,Fujian Province using the Parental Psychological Control Scale,the Self-Concept Clarity Scale,and the Sense of Meaning in Life Scale,and the results are as follows.1.high school students’ parental psychological control was significantly negatively related to self-concept clarity and meaning in life,and self-concept clarity was significantly positively related to sense of meaning in life;2.high school students’ self-concept clarity played a partially mediating role between parental psychological control and sense of meaning in life.Study 2 used a pretest-posttest experimental design with an experimental control group to test the intervention effect of group counseling on self-concept clarity.The intervention was administered to the experimental group through a group counseling format,and no intervention was imposed on the control group.The results showed that the subjects in the experimental group had significantly improved their scores on both self-concept clarity and sense of meaning in life after the self-concept clarity group counseling intervention,while there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the control group. |
