Memory and forgetting have a profound influence on individual information acquisition and knowledge acquisition.Language is an important factor affecting memory, which plays a key role in the development of individual memory ability.Chinese was the first dominant language for healthy hearing students, and sign language was the first dominant language for hearing impaired students. The fundamental difference between hearing impaired and healthy hearing students lies in the former’s difficulty in acquiring spoken language(Chinese). Therefore, compared with healthy hearing students, the memory and forgetting of hearing impaired students have their own characteristics and rules. In this study,Recruit hearing impaired students and healthy hearing students as the research object.By exploring the memory and forgetting of visual, abstract and procedural materials, this paper analyzes and summarizes the memory advantages and forgetting characteristics of hearing impaired students. On this basis, the author puts forward some feasible educational suggestions to promote the development of hearing impaired students.A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. The hearing impaired students in the experimental group and healthy hearing students in the control group. In the first study,a 2(participant type)×2(material type)×2(test method)mixed experimental design was used to explore the memory and forgetting of visual materials and abstract materials in hearing impaired students. In the second study,a 2(participant type)×2(test method)mixed experimental design was used to explore the memory and forgetting of procedural materials in hearing impaired students. The results showed that(1)the visual memory of hearing impaired students was superior to abstract memory.(2)Compared with healthy hearing students, the efficiency of visual and abstract memory of hearing impaired students is lower.(3)One day later, the rate of forgetting visual materials and abstract materials was higher for hearing impaired students than for hearing impaired students.(4)The hearing impaired students had the same memory accuracy of procedural materials as the hearing impaired students.(5)One day later, the memory forgetting rate of hearing impaired students was lower than that of healthy hearing students. Conclusion: Compared with healthy hearing students, hearing impaired students have advantages in memory of procedural materials, which are better in remembering and slower in forgetting.Hearing impaired students also have some advantages in memory of visual materials, but only relative to other memory materials, not relative to healthy hearing students.
