| This report is a translation of the fifth Chapter of Intercultural Communication in Contexts, a book in Contemporary Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics series. This book applied the dialectic approach after summarizing and analyzing the fundamental perspectives used in intercultural communication.With the guidance of Functional Equivalence theory, this translator analyzed the features of the text and discussed the specific translation methods(extension of word meaning, conversion, long sentence restructuring, translation of passive sentences, and cultural notes) used to deal with difficult points at lexical, syntactical and cultural levels. The significance of this report lies in discussing the application of translation methods used in the translation process. It is hoped that this report could provide some beneficial references for translating materials related to intercultural communication. |
