| English writing at primary school is the key and difficult point of primary school English.It points out that writing is not only a form of language output,but also an important expression of comprehensive English ability on English Curriculum Standards(2011).Traditional writing teaching approach stresses the practice of writing skills,which makes students lose interest in learning and participate negatively.And it hinders the improvement of students’ English level.This study based on the importance of primary school English writing applies experiential teaching approach to primary school English writing to probe the effect of experiential teaching approach on primary school English writing teaching.Experiential learning theory is the theoretical foundation of experiential teaching approach.It holds that learning is a process in which learners gain knowledge under certain situations,combining with personal learning experience and experience personally.It emphasizes their spirit of participation and helps to improve learners’ learning interest,so as to optimize the teaching effect.Therefore,experiential teaching approach running through the whole course is of great significance to arouse students’ writing motivation,improve students’ autonomy in English writing and build a students-oriented class.This study applies experiential teaching approach to primary school English writing teaching to explore the following three questions:(1)What is the effect of experiential teaching approach on primary school students’ learning motivations in English writing ?(2)What is the effect of experiential teaching approach on primary school students’ achievements in English writing?(3)What is the effect of experiential teaching approach on primary school students’ autonomy in English writing?This study conducted a 16-week experiment with 100 students from two parallel classes in Grade Six of one primary school in Liaoning province.Experimental class(EC)adopts experiential teaching approach and control class(CC)adopts traditional teaching approach.There are 50 students from the two classes.The two parallel classes are roughly the same level before the experiment with no significant difference.In this study,methods of the pre-test and the post-test,questionnaires and interview are carried out.The thesis uses SPSS25.0 to analyze the results.This study shows that experiential teaching approach prompts students to experience writing in the situation.It improves the writing efficiency and exerts a positive effect on the primary school English writing.Students in the experimental class are obviously better than the students in control class in English writing motivations,achievements and autonomy.Therefore,experiential teaching approach can cover the shortcomings of traditional teaching approach.It can be widely used in primary school English writing teaching. |
