Experiential teaching method was founded by American pedagogy and psychologist David Kolb in 1980 s,and then caused a sensation in many countries in the world.In China,in the 21 st century,scholars have made a lot of researches on experiential teaching methods,mainly focusing on the connotation,theoretical basis,significance,mode and method of experiential teaching methods,and have made considerable achievements.With the implementation of the new curriculum reform in 2011,it advocates to achieve the goal of the task through perception,experience,practice,participation and cooperation.In this context,can experiential teaching method continue to play the role in the field of English teaching,or what development should it get? In primary school,the application of experience teaching method in English teaching.This research adopts experimental method,investigation method and theoretical analysis method,combined with the text of unit2-unit5 in the fifth grade English volume I of people’s education press,to carry out the teaching experiment of experiential teaching method in the experimental class,while the control class still adopts the traditional English teaching method.After the experiment,the average difference between the experimental class and the control class is 11.14,the test of significance difference is t = 3.524,the double tail value of significance is p =0.001(P < 0.05),and the level difference after the experiment is significant,which proves that the experiential teaching method has a significant impact on the learning performance of primary school English learners.The results of questionnaire and interview show that experiential teaching method can have a positive impact on students’ English learning in four aspects:Experiential teaching method can help students improve their self-identity,learning emotions and learning strategies.The experiential teaching method integrates the skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing in English teaching,and simultaneously carries out listening,speaking,reading and writing.This paper introduces the research design andexperiment of experiential teaching methods in English teaching,based on the research basis of the text,dialogue and word courses in the first volume of the fifth grade textbook of people’s education press,by using experiential teaching method to strengthen students’ emotional experience,life experience,social experience and situational experience and following the teaching procedure of experiential teaching method The process,and the experimental results are analyzed and discussed.The conclusion is that enhancing students’ sense of experience in English learning is the premise of good teaching.In primary school English teaching,we should pay attention to the development of students’ interest and self-confidence,highlight the main position of students,and develop the experiential teaching method by enhancing students’ participation in learning.
