English,as one of the most widely used languages in the world,will play an unprecedented role in advancing connectivity and building a community of shared future for mankind.Therefore,most countries attach great importance to English teaching.Vocabulary is a basic part of English learning.In primary school,vocabulary learning plays an especially important role in English learning.In conventional teaching,influenced by teaching evaluation methods,English vocabulary teaching is deficient in the cultivation of comprehensive expression skills such as listening,speaking,reading and writing.The teaching process is dominated by memory.As a result,students’ interest gradually decreases.Aiming at several outstanding problems existing in vocabulary teaching,the author carried out an experiential teaching experiment.The experimental class takes experiential teaching,while in comparative class conventional teaching method is still used.In the process of the experiment,the author used literature method,questionnaire method,data analysis method and interview method to carry out detailed analysis and research,trying to find the answer to the research question:What problems do primary school students have in vocabulary learning?Can Experiential Teaching improve primary school students’ comprehensive English vocabulary scores?How to use experiential teaching to improve vocabulary teaching strategies in primary schools?Having finished the experiment,the author sorted out and summarized the survey of vocabulary learning problems of the students before the experiment,and found that the most prominent problems of the students were memory and comprehensive expression ability of reading,speaking and writing.Through contrastive analysis of questionnaires before and after the experiment,the author found that students were satisfied with experiential vocabulary teaching after the experiment,but their vocabulary learning ability was not significantly improved.Therefore,it is difficult to improve students’vocabulary learning ability only through a certain teaching method used,which requires active guidance in teaching practice.Through the comparative analysis of the scores of online and offline written tests before and after the experiment,the author found that experiential teaching actually improved students’ vocabulary memory and comprehensive expression ability,but there was no significant progress in the use of phonetic symbols and tense of vocabulary.Therefore,in the implementation of experiential teaching in vocabulary teaching,users should further strengthen the practice,pay attention to integrated using of different teaching methods,and play out advantages of various teaching methods in order to effectively promote vocabulary learning.
