This translation practice report is based on the translation material of The Sustainable Solutions for Food Security,which was written by over 60 experts and scholars from all over the world.The book covers a wide range of areas and analyzes the food security issues from different perspectives,which is of profound reference significance.Translation materials belong to scientific and technological texts,and the content is mainly about food security.Therefore,participation in this translation practice is of great significance to the development of China’s agricultural field.Chinese scholars can learn and use policies and measures applicable to China’s agricultural field for reference,so as to guarantee China’s food security.Translator conducts practical activities under the guidance of Relevance Translation Theory.The content of translation practice report includes five parts:introduction of translation task,translation process,theory overview,case analysis and conclusion.The case study of Chapter 4 is the core content of this report.The translator will discuss the application of relevance translation theory in the process of translation of scientific and technological texts from three aspects: understanding,expression and flexibility.Through the research,it is found that the translation process of scientific and technological texts is a double ostensive inferential process.Through the accurate grasp of the original author’s writing intention,the understanding of the target audience’s cognitive context and reading purpose,and the appropriate use of translation strategies and translation skills,the translator can finally obtain a translation with the best communicative effect.
