Oral language teaching is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and it mainly cultivates learners’ oral expression ability.Oral teaching at the elementary level focuses on the input and output of Chinese expressions.As one of the emerging media,short videos are short,simple and easy to access.The content of the videos keeps up with the development of the times and contains a lot of practical language materials,which can make up for the limitations of speaking textbooks with outdated background and old content.In classroom teaching,compared with pictures,audio recordings and teachers’ oral narration,short videos integrate voice,picture and text to stimulate learners’ visual and auditory senses,which improves the efficiency of information input.Therefore,applying short videos in elementary speaking teaching,making efficient use of the characteristics of short videos and giving full play to the advantages of short videos in teaching can have a positive impact on speaking teaching.This paper starts from analyzing the feasibility of using short videos in elementary speaking teaching,exploring the practical application of short videos in classroom teaching through questionnaires and interviews,then designing teaching experiments to apply short videos in teaching practice,testing the teaching effect by observing students’ classroom performance and setting follow-up tests,and finally summarizing the problems of short videos in the survey and teaching practice,and making suggestions for related problems.The paper is divided into six parts as follows.The first chapter introduces the origin,purpose and significance of this paper,and a review of the research on the application of short videos to teaching spoken Chinese as a foreign language,including the research on the ontology of short videos and the research on the application of video resources to teaching spoken Chinese.Finally,the research methods and ideas of this paper are introduced.Chapter 2 is the feasibility analysis.Through elaborating the theories related to the application of short videos in elementary speaking teaching,summarizing the problems of elementary speaking teaching and the advantages of short videos,the feasibility of applying short videos in elementary speaking teaching is analyzed from theoretical and practical perspectives.The third chapter is a survey and analysis on the application of short videos in elementary speaking teaching.International students and speaking teachers in the junior class of the College of International Education of Anhui University were taken as the samples,and questionnaires and interviews were conducted respectively.After summarizing and analyzing the results in depth,the application of short videos in elementary speaking teaching is explored,and the role played by short videos in elementary speaking teaching and the problems existed are further analyzed.Chapter 4 is the design and implementation of the classroom teaching experiment.The author designs and implements a practical activity of using short videos in elementary speaking teaching,and examines and analyzes the teaching effect of short videos by observing students’ feedback and setting up a follow-up test to show the application and effect of short videos in speaking teaching,and analyzes the role played by short videos and the problems that exist.Chapter 5 summarizes the problems of short videos and makes suggestions.Based on the analysis of the survey results and the analysis of teaching practice,we summarize the problems of short videos applied to elementary speaking teaching,and make suggestions to speaking teachers about the related problems.Chapter 6 summarizes the content of the whole paper and my opinion.
