A Practice Report On Simulated E-C Simultaneous Interpreting Of Formula One Grand Prixfrom The Perspective Of Explicitation

In recent years,thanks to the acquisition and promotion of Liberty Media and live broadcast of CCTV and online channels,F1 has re-entered public’s visionas the highest class of field auto racing event sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile(FIA).Therefore,aiming to absorb more experienced and professional analysis,more and more audience seek to watch F1 live streaming through foreign TV signals.Most Chinese audience,however,can not understand the English commentary content when watching foreign live broadcast.Their comprehension can only be based on the live pictures and their own judgement.As a result,the demand for simultaneous interpreter of F1 live commentary is worth paying attention to.This paper is a practive report onsimulated E-C simultaneous interpreting of F1 Grand Prix from the perspective of explicitation.The paper selects the English live commentary2020 F1 Austrian Grand Prix as the corpus.During the practice,the interpreter found that the expressions in racing is totally different,although some expressions can be easily grasped.It’s critical to master professional knowledge and transform the content of source language explicitly to the target audience.The interpreter has discovered many problems in the process of practice,such as ambiguous numerical meaning,differences in vocabulary concepts in professional contexts,confusion caused by metonymy words,unclear meaning of personal pronouns,redundant information and contextual cultural differences.To solve the questions above,from the perspective of explicitation,the interpreter aims to clarify the meaning of numbers and vocabulary concepts in professional contexts,explicit the metonymy nouns and personal pronouns,delete or simplify redundant information and use pragmatic explicitation.The interpreter applied explicitation to the meaning of the content that causes trouble in the source language,and strive to make the target language audience understand.It is hoped that the explicitation in this practice can provide a reference for the live simultaneous interpreting of sports events in the future.
