| This practice report is an interpreting practice report on a simulated interpretation. The task is a speech given by Wang Zhiliang,an expert in the field of Internet of Things,on the interconnection of things and the development and application of IoT at the 2017 OFweek China IoT Conference. In this simulated simultaneous interpreting, task and process description respectively introduces the task background, the speaker’s language style and the author’s interpreting process.Case analysis introduces the theoretical basis first, which are interpretive theory, explicitation and implicitation, then lists the lexical and sentence level problems encountered in practice and explores the corresponding techniques. Finally, the author summarizes the enlightenment and suggestions.Since the 1980s,with the gradual improvement of the theoretical framework of interpretation, the Interpretive Theory has become the dominant theory of interpretation. The main contents of the interpretive theory are:comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation.Interpreters should convey the speaker’s core sense rather than linguistic meaning. The concept of "explicitation" and"implicitation" is first proposed by French scholars Vinay and Darbelnet, which refers to the translation techniques of expressing the implied meaning of the original text and simplifying the redundant information in the target text.the author adopts the explicitation and implicitation techniques under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory to deal with the problems she encountered.Especially,Interpreters need to find hidden logical connections, and use explicit techniques such as explanation, specification, addition and reorganization to make clear the sense. At the same time,it’s a wise choice to adopt omission and generalization where the source language is redundant. The application of explicitation and implicitation optimizes the quality of sense transformation. |
