This is a project report on the translation of Overload: How Good Jobs Went Bad and What We Can Do about It(Chapter 2)co-authored by Erin Kelly and Phyllis Moen.The book contains some general information about pressure people face in workplace nowadays,its impact on their daily life as well as methods to tackle it.This project chooses Chapter 2,which mainly describes the major work pressure people are faced with today and its impact on many aspects,for translation.This report is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 is an introduction to the report,including its background,objectives,significance and structure.Chapter 2 is an introduction to the source text,including its authors,publishing facts and main contents.The source text is categorized into an informative text,so the translation of it should focus on accuracy and readability.Chapter 3 tells the guiding theory and its application in this translation project.Chapter 4 describes translation difficulties in this project and corresponding solutions.The report employs Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence as the translation guidance and describes its role in translation,combined with the translator’s concrete practice.Chapter 5 concludes experience and lessons from the translation as well as problems to be resolved.
