E-C Translation Of IT News From The Perspective Of J.C.Catford’s Translation Shift Theory

This report focuses on E-C Translation of information technology news from the perspective of J.C.Catford’s Translation Shift Theory.With the development of economic globalization,we are making constant breakthrough in technological revolution,which centered on information technology.Information has become a powerful driving force for economic and social development,and has pushed human society to a new historical height at an unprecedented speed.At the same time,as economy grows,it’s more and more difficult for any company to stand at the top.Business success no longer depends solely on technology,but also on knowledge of products,equipment,competitors and the market.Therefore,information technology translation serves as an important bridge for the communication between both scientists and engineers from different countries.Materials in this paper mainly come fr-om China Daily,covering the latest information and technology news.Considering the features of such kind of news,here the author adopts Catford’s translation shift theory,which is highly applicable in guiding non-literary translation.Five parts are included in the paper.The first part is about translation task;the second part covers translation process;the third part is a case analysis;the fourth part analyzes challenges during translation and corresponding solutions;the last part concludes gains and experience as well as limitations.
