A Project Report On E-C Translation Of Hybrid Electric Vehicles And Their Challenges:A Review

In recent years,due to the strategic need to promote economic growth,the research and development of new energy vehicles has become a hot trend.The source text of this project is from Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews,one of the leading academic journals in the field of energy.It provides comprehensive survey of hybrid electric vehicles on their energy combination,models,energy management systems and so on.The translation of the text can help readers to know more about new energy vehicles.Guided by Peter Newmark’s translation theories,this report analyzes the translation at lexical and syntactic levels,and tries to find out the appropriate translation strategies.The report is divided into four parts: introduction,translation process description,cases analysis and conclusion.The first part mainly includes project background and text analysis.The second part illustrates pre-translation preparation,theoretical guidance and quality control.The third part analyzes the translation separately from lexical and syntactic levels,with typical examples taken from the texts.The final part summarizes the translation experience and limitations.According to the definitions given by Newmark’s text typology,the source text is an informative text.At lexical level,the translation of terms should be professional and accurate,and the translation of nominalization can adopt the technique of conversion.At syntactic level,the passive voice can be converted or retained.As for long and complex sentences,translator should analyze the logical relation between sentences and sentences first,and then adopt the translation techniques of division and restructuring and so on.In order to conform to Chinese expression habit,combination can be adopted to translate some short sentences.Through case analysis,the author believes that communicative translation is more suitable for the translation of this type of texts.It is hoped that this project report can be helpful for the translation of NEV-related literature in the future.
