| ObjectiveCollege students’ personality traits(proactive personality)and behavioral habits(mobile phone addiction,phubbing and procrastination)may influence their subjective well-being,which is an important predictor of mental health.However,the internal relationship between these factors has not been clearly demonstrated in previous studies.Initiative to explore the personality of college students subjective well-being,the internal mechanism of this research was based on social cognitive theory and the conservation of resources theory,bow to proactive personality,mobile phone addiction,phubbing,procrastination,and subjective wellbeing as the research variables,system to explore the mechanism of action between various factors,in order to rich domestic and foreign related research about college students’ proactive personality and subjective well-being,to family,school and society to carry out the personality cultivation,reduce bad behavior habits,and provide scientific reference for the establishment of subjective well-being intervention strategy and empirical basis.MethodsThis research adopts the cross-sectional survey method,taking the undergraduates of a university in Hefei City,Anhui Province as the research object,according to the social cognitive theory and the conservation of resources theory as the basis,the Chinese version of proactive personality scale,the mobile phone addiction tendency scale for college students,the Chinese version of generic scale of phubbing,the Chinese version of the short general procrastination scale and the Chinese version of index of well-being of 886 college students were investigated.The SPSS 23.0 software with PROCESS plug-in(PROCESS V3.4)was used to analyze the data by descriptive analysis,independent sample t test,analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis,and Bootstrap method.Results1.College students have above medium level of proactive personality(5.01±0.85)and subjective well-being(10.47±2.38),and below medium level of mobile phone addiction(2.63±0.66),phubbing(2.68±0.64)and procrastination(2.77±0.58).College students’ proactive personality scores in age(t=4.627,p=0.032<0.05),gender(t=7.593,p=0.006<0.01),grade(F=4.346,p=0.005<0.01)and the main motivation for using a mobile phone(F=7.601,p=0.000<0.01)exist significant statistical differences.Mobile phone addiction scores in age(t=5.399,p=0.020<0.05),grade(F=14.989,p=0.000<0.01),and the main motivation for using a mobile phone(F=10.990,p=0.000<0.01)exist significant statistical differences.Phubbing scores in gender(t=10.630,p=0.001<0.01),grade(F=6.304,p=0.000<0.01),and the main motivation for using a mobile phone(F=13.133,p=0.000<0.01)exist significant statistical differences.Procrastination scores in grade(F=6.020,p=0.000<0.01)and the main motivation for using a mobile phone(F=24.733,p=0.000<0.01)exist significant statistical differences.Subjective well-being scores at the location of the age(t=0.939,p=0.003<0.01),grade(F=3.549,p=0.014<0.05),homeplace(t=0.044,p=0.038<0.05)as well as the main motivation for using a mobile phone(F=4.263,p=0.005<0.01)exist significant statistical differences.2.Proactive personality of college students is positively correlated with subjective wellbeing(r=0.48,p<0.01),and negatively correlated with mobile phone addiction(r=-0.21,p<0.01),phubbing(r=-0.19,p<0.01)and procrastination(r=-0.24,p<0.01).Mobile phone addiction was positively correlated with phubbing(r=0.78,p<0.01)and procrastination(r=0.41,p<0.01),while phubbing and procrastination(r=0.48,p<0.01)were positively correlated.Mobile phone addiction(r=-0.16,p<0.01),phubbing(r=-0.18,p<0.01)and procrastination(r=-0.24,p<0.01)were all negatively correlated with subjective well-being.3.Procrastination plays a partial mediating role between proactive personality and subjective well-being(β = 0.04,95% CI [0.01,0.08]),while mobile phone addiction and phubbing have no significant mediating effect between proactive personality and subjective well-being.4.College students’ mobile phone addiction,phubbing and procrastination in chain intermediary role between proactive personality and subjective well-being(β = 0.02,95% CI[0.01,0.04]).Mobile phone addiction and phubbing in the chain of intermediary effect between proactive personality and subjective well-being was not significant.Mobile phone addiction and procrastination in the chain of intermediary effect between proactivepersonality and subjective well-being was not significant.Phubbing and procrastination in the chain of intermediary effect between proactive personality and subjective well-being was not significant.ConclusionsCollege students’ proactive personality can positively affect their subjective well-being;College students’ procrastination plays a part of mediating role between proactive personality and subjective well-being.The proactive personality of college students can indirectly affect subjective well-being through the chain mediating effects of mobile phone addiction,phubbing and procrastination.All walks of life should attach importance to the cultivation of college students’ proactive personality and help them reduce bad behavior habits in order to improve subjective well-being. |
