| Objective This study with self-control strength model and two-stage model as the theoretical guidance,to understand the degree of mobile phone addiction, self control level and bedtime procrastination of nursing students, this paper explores the relationship between mobile phone addiction,self-control and bedtime procrastination as well as its internal mechanism,so as to provide literature support for future research in the field of bedtime procrastination, and to provide practical suggestions for college work managers and nursing students to reduce mobile phone addiction, bedtime procrastination and improve their self-control.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in the School of Nursing of a medical university in Hefei,Anhui.A total of 335 nursing undergraduates participated in this study.Mobile Phone Addiction Index Scale(MPAI),self-control Scale(SCS)and Bedtime procrastination Scale(BPS)were used to measure Mobile Phone Addiction,self-control and Bedtime procrastination of nursing students.Using SPSS24.0 and PROCESS plug-in,descriptive analysis,t-test,analysis of variance,Pearson correlation analysis and Model4 in PROCESS plug-in were used to analyze the data.Results(1)There were no significant differences in gender, age, only child, household registration, grade, and whether or not the nursing students used mobile phones before bedtime(P> 0.05).There were statistically significant differences between mobile phone addiction and whether it was necessary before going to bed,the time of falling asleep every night and the average sleep duration every night(P < 0.05).(2)There were no significant differences in grade, age, only child, household registration, mobile phone use before bed and bedtime procrastination of nursing students(P> 0.05).There were statistically significant differences in gender of nursing students, whether mobile phone was necessary before going to bed, time to fall asleep every night, average sleep length every night and bedtime procrastination(P < 0.05).(3)The total mean scores of mobile phone addiction,self-control and bedtime procrastination in nursing students were(2.67±0.66),(3.12±0.39)and(2.88±0.49).In nursing students, mobile phone addiction and bedtime procrastination were slightly below the medium level, and self-control was at the medium level. There was a significant negative correlation between mobile phone addiction and self-control in nursing students(r=-0.63,P<0.01),and a significant positive correlation with bedtime procrastination(r=0.39,P<0.01).There was a significant negative correlation between self-control and bedtime procrastination(r=-0.41,P<0.01).(4)Self-control partially mediated the relationship between mobile phone addiction and bedtime procrastination(mediating effect value was 0.12).Conclusion The results of this study showed that the mobile phone addiction of nursing students had a positive impact on bedtime procrastination. The deeper the degree of mobile phone addiction of nursing students was,the more likely they were to have bedtime procrastination. The mobile phone addiction of nursing students can negatively affect self-control ability. The deeper the degree of mobile phone addiction of nursing students, the worse the self-control ability.Self-control played a partial mediating role in the relationship between mobile phone addiction and bedtime procrastination in nursing students. |
