| [Objective]: With applying to dental implants,causes of the failure of them are more concerned and peri-implantitis is the most common one of them.The link between diabetes mellitus and peri-implantitis has not been confirmed while diabetes mellitus without control is the most common contraindication to dental implant therapy.So this review attempts to evaluate the risk of peri-implantitis in patients with diabetes mellitus by a Meta-analysis system.[Methods]: Articles focused on diabetes mellitus and peri-implantitis till March 2016 were searched from the digital database of PUBMED,EMBASE and OVID.According to the inclusion criteria of meta-analysis system,articles were analyzed by STATA Software and estimated by Odd Ratios and 95% confidence intervals.The Begg’s and Egger’s recession tests and visualization of Funnel plots were used to evaluate publication bias.[Results]: 5 of 6,182 articles were included ultimately and it is presented that there was a positive correlation between diabetes and peri-implantitits(OR:1.89;CI: 1.31-2.46).[Conclusion]: This review suggested the patients with diabetes mellitus have a high risk of peri-implantitis.More studies were needed to increase the reliability of this meta-analysis review in the future. |
