Background:Impant,as one of the ideal methods for tooth or teeth loss due to periodontal disease,is widely used in clinical. However, with the extensive application of dental implant therapy, periimplantitis is gradually increasing, which has attracted the attention of dentists.Periimplantitis is an inflammatory process which involved in the osseointegration of implant. The inflammation often involves in alveolar bone, which eventually leads to loosening of tooth and loss of the tooth, and results in the failture of dental implant. The initial therapy and adjuvant drug therapy has become the consensus of many researchers for the the treatment of periimplantitis. Some researches reported that the pathogenic bacteria biofilm of periimplantitis, mainly composed of gram negative bacteria, was similar to subgingival plaque biofilm of periodontitis. That means the drugs for treatment of periodontitis may be used for the treatment of periimplant. At present, the periodontal auxiliary antibiotics are including Metronidazole,Glycerin Iodine,Minocycline-hydrochloride.As a new type of local sustained-release dosage form for the treatment of periodontal disease, the effective antimicrobial component of Hydrochloric acid minocycline ointmentminocycline hydrochloride is also known as minocycline hydrochloride,it has less antibacterial spectrum, wide promote periodontal tissue regeneration, inhibition of collagenase metabolism and other characteristics are includng long time to maintain a high local concentration, playing bactericidal effect,in the treatment of periodontitis as a clinical routine medication. In order to further clarify the clinical effect for the treatment of periodontitis, the study used meta-analysis method for the drugs which including Metronidazole gel,Minocycline and Glycerin Iodine. Objective:This study aims to systematically evaluate the the efficacy of minocycline hydrochloride in the treatment of peri-implantitis as compared with the efficacy of Glycerium Iodi and metronidazole gel. Methods:Literature was retrieved in electronic database covering Pub Med,Web of Science,Cochrane library,CNKI and Wan Fang up to March,2017 to collect the randomized controlled trials on investigating the efficacy of minocycline hydrochloride in the treatment of peri-implantitis.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two reviewers independently screened the trials, extracted the data, assessed the quality, and finally conducted the meta-analysis with Revman 5.3.Result:A total of 9 studies were eligible for the study. The pooled result showed that the plaque index(PLI),sulcus bleeding index(SBI)and probing depth(PD)are significantly decreased in patients treated with minocycline hydrochloride in comparison with patients treated with Glycerium Iodi and metronidazole gel. Conclusion:Local application with minocycline hydrochloride is effective for dental peri-implantitis.
