The Study On The Under Forest Economic Development Of Babu District

The development of the under-forest economy(especially the plantations of Chinese herbal medicine like ganoderma)serves as an effective way of increasing forestry and agricultures’ income and achieving the sustainable development of forestry.The development of under-forest plantation contributes to both environmental protection and economic development,but given that the forest economy doesn’t meet certain conditions of development,foresters face both internally and externally difficulties,when it comes to the behavioral selections of developing under-forest economy.Therefore,this paper is based on the behavioral theory that influences foresters to put in place a micro analysis framework of foresters’ behaviors and relevant influencing factors in the under-forest economy.Concerning the survey data from 300 forester households across 13 prefectures of Babu District,Hezhou,it establishes a Logistic model to empirically analyze the influencing factors behind the foresters’ behavioral selections of under-forest economy growth(the plantation of ganoderma).Meanwhile,SWOT analysis is done at the macro level to discusses the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threats faced by Babu District in terms of the under-forest economy.Based on the above two points,this study aims to analyze the willingness and influencing factors of farmers in Babu District of Hezhou City combined with macro and micro aspects,and provides a sufficient basis for the future development of under-forest economy in Hezhou City,Guangxi,as well as the promotion of policy,financing,technology and infrastructure.The following conclusions are drawn:1)8 research hypotheses were verified,i.e.the relevance of the education level of farmers,the age of farmers,the area of forest land,the nonfarm incomes,the capital adequacy,the recognition level of the under-forest economy,the development modes of under-forest economy and the sales of under-forest economic products with forest farmers’ involvement in the under-forest economy.2)Higher education level of farmers,wider forest land area and more sufficient financing can improve farmers’ recognition of the under-forest economy and let them keep a high expectation toward reward.Development modes of the under-forest economy and sales of under-forest economic products have a positive influence on farmers’ involvement in the under-forest economy.On the contrary,the age of farmers and nonfarm income have a negative influence.3)SWOT analysis method analyzes the internally and externally environmental factors of forest economic development in BABU District.The results show that the priority of forest economic selection in Hezhou City is Weaknesses and Environmental opportunities>Strengths and Environmental opportunities>Weaknesses and Threats> Strengths and Threats,so the Weaknesses and environmental opportunities mode development should be the first to achieve sustainably efficient development.4)Five strategies are proposed for the development of under-forest ganoderma lucidum planting industry in Babu District to promote the development of under-forest economy(ganoderma lucidum industry).First,increase the government support and guidance;second,improve the industrial chain and intensification;third,standardize industry behavior and cultivate leading industry enterprises;fourth,establish product trading market support system;fifth,build the scientific and technology support system.
