Automotive manufacture industry experiencing hundred years of development,is still under the dominant control of foreign companies in the whole industrial supply chain,while domestic companies in China,starting with business of assembly and processing,have formed geographical industrial clusters,composed of tremendous automotive component manufacturers in small and medium-size.In recent years,the component manufacturers,on one hand,are facing the changes from China-US trade war and Covid-19,on the other hand,meet the new opportunities brought by the emerging development of domestic new energy vehicle manufacturers.In business management,performance plays a guiding role as a baton,which of the operators can directly impact on the overall performance of the company,but small and medium-size companies most adopt the extensive mode of performance management for operators.Therefore,effective performance management for operators becomes one of the necessary elements for manufacturing companies of small and medium size to achieve sustainable development.This paper,taking Company A,an automotive component manufacturer of small and medium size as the research object,studies specifically on the performance management of the operators.Firstly,it reviews and summarizes the related theories of performance management,analysis of performance management related theories and front-line staff performance management related research,then by conducting questionnaire survey and management interview on the subject within Company A,it comes out with problems existed in operator performance management,which include followings: 1)single performance-oriented index cannot anticipate the long-term development need of company,2)target setting of performance review is not reasonable enough to fully motivate the operators,3)the result of performance review is overemphasized,while the process evaluation is given relatively less importance,so the performance communication need to be enhanced,4)low awareness of management team weakens the execution of performance management.Based on the mentioned problems being identified,this paper proposes the solution as following: 1)adopt balance sheet card(BSC)as the basic method for performance review,update performance management concept,objectives and indicators,2)deploy agile and visualized production site management,3)emphasize employee full engagement to attach more importance to performance management,4)enhance the process of target setting and performance communication,5)take guarantee measures diversified in performance motivation to ensure the execution of the proposals...
