With the continuous improvement of Chinese people’s living standards and the strong policy support of the national cultural industry,cultural and creative products had developed rapidly in China,and consumers’ consumption concept had gradually shifted from material consumption to spiritual consumption.These showed that the original design principles had been difficult to adapt to the current consumption situation.The introduction of narrative theory into design was based on narrative,and through a variety of design techniques,the narrative theory was skillfully integrated into the design of cultural and creative products,thus enabling consumers to obtain both material and spiritual satisfaction.By summarizing the design principles and methods of narrative cultural and creative products,this paper expanded the practice of narrative theory in cultural and creative product design.This paper was divided into five parts.In the first part,by analyzing research status of domestic and foreign,the research direction was determined and the research methods were formulated according to the research content.In the second part,the narratology theory and related theories of cultural and creative product design were summarized respectively,and several excellent cases of narrative design of literary and creative products were analyzed based on Todorov’s narrative theory.In the third part,the cultural and creative products of "Leaving Palace" in Chengde city were investigated and analyzed,and the problems of cultural and creative products around the Chengde Summer Resort were sorted out.In the fourth part,combining the practical investigation with the theoretical part,the design principles and methods of "Leaving Palace" cultural and creative products were summarized based on the narrative design theory.In the fifth part,the "Leaving Palace" cultural and creative products were presented by illustration design method and integrated into various cultural and creative products,so that consumers could not only meet material needs,but also meet spiritual and cultural needs in a narrative way.This could not only increase consumers’ understanding of cultural and creative products themselves,but also drive the development of other industries in Chengde area through cultural and creative products.In this paper,a cultural and creative product named "Leaving Palace" was designed,which was taken from the alias of Chengde Summer Resort.It was an attempt to use the narratology concept to guide the practice of cultural and creative products design of "Leaving Palace",which is the feasibility of product design of narratology.Through the design practice of " Leaving Palace " cultural and creative products,the design principles and methods of narrative cultural and creative products were summarized,which provided a broader design thinking for Chinese cultural and creative products,improved the soft power of national culture,and contributed to the propaganda of Chengde Summer Resort’s profound history and culture.
