An Ethnographic Study On The Landscape Of Ancient Dwellings In Yumuzhai

This paper focuses on the ancient residential landscape of Yumuzhai,an ancient village in Lichuan City,Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture,Hubei Province.It is worth exploring because of its profound historical and cultural heritage.As a village landscape,the appearance of ancient dwellings is affected by the location and spatial layout of the village.The ancient dwellings in the village have a history of more than 100 years.In their living history,after several generations of changes,the local people built and lived in the ancient dwellings.From the spatial layout and life history of the buildings,it shows that the architectural style of the ancient dwellings is eclectic,and the construction pays attention to the accessibility and comfort At the same time,the interaction between the local villagers and the government occurred in the production and construction of ancient houses.Landscape anthropologists make in-depth research on landscape from the perspective of "writing culture".This paper,from the perspective of landscape anthropology,adopts the writing technique of ethnography,takes the ancient residential landscape of Yumuzhai village as the research object,and analyzes the ancient residential landscape from the perspective of anthropological holistic view.By using the method of field investigation,this paper makes field investigation and in-depth interview on the history of Yumu village and its ancient dwellings and local villagers.Through the research on the site selection and layout of Yumuzhai village,and the transition to the investigation on the spatial layout and layout elements of the ancient residential landscape,this paper understands the reasons for the construction of Yumuzhai village and the humanistic history of the ancient residential landscape;It reveals the cultural connotation of ancient residential landscape in architectural style and layout;It is found that in the process of production and construction of the ancient residential landscape,the local villagers’ dependence on the ancient dwellings is reduced,which makes their emotional and living needs for the ancient dwellings gradually weaken.The maximization of the interests of the villagers is fundamental in the interactive process of the ancient residential landscape,However,in the view of the government,it can maximize the tourism value of the ancient residential landscape by taking it as a cultural relic protection and recreation.However,this practice has separated the relationship between the local villagers and the ancient residential landscape.Therefore,we need to pay attention to the interaction between people and the ancient residential landscape,so as to better develop and inherit the characteristic tourism and historical culture of Yumu village landscape.This paper studies the landscape of Yumuzhai ancient houses,which is of great significance to understand the Tujia culture in Western Hubei,and also records the human history of Yumuzhai ancient houses.
