Hummel Family Papers Based Historical Research On "House Of Sun Yatsen"

In this paper,"House of Sun Yatsen",western houses of the University of Nanking,is taken as the research object.Based on the relevant historical records in Hummel family papers,this paper firstly studies the original state of "House of Sun Yatsen" from the aspects of interior,exterior and environment,secondly studies the evolution of "House of Sun Yatsen" by comparing the historical information of different periods of the house.Furthermore,the paper also conducts a textual research on the other crucial historical information of "House of Sun Yatsen",which is also the foundation of the above-mentioned researches.The full thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the origin,foundation,purpose,method and framework of the study and explains the main concepts involved in the paper.The second chapter presents a textual research on the crucial historical information of "House of Sun Yatsen",including its origin(construction background,time of completion,the first tenants,housing property,designer and builder),use as well as the relationship between Sun Yatsen and"House of Sun Yatsen".The third chapter gives the introduction of the current condition of the building as well as the speculation of its original state from three parts,namely,interior plane,exterior and environment.With the introduction of the current condition as its basis,the original state is verified by making full use of Hummel family papers,of which the speculation of the interior plane,exterior is to a great extent based on the survey of "House of Sun Yatsen" done in 2015.The fourth chapter,a further attempt based on the above research,aims to sort out the evolution of the interior plane,exterior and environment of "House of Sun Yatsen".The study on the evolution of interior plane and exterior is based on the comparison between the current condition and the original state while the study of the environment evolution is based on two comparisons,one of which is between the current environment of "House of Sun Yatsen" and that in 1917 and the other is between that in 1912 and 1917.The fifth chapter is the summary and reflection part of the research,which summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the research and gives a prospect of the follow-up studies.The whole thesis contains about 23000 words,64 pictures and charts.
